Somehow they need to get back on track with the traditional NHL calendar.

I have heard rumours that if they can still make the same amount of money playing during the new dates, the change may become permanent. I have not heard any suggestion that next season will be shortened at all. IMO, nothing will be cast in concrete unless/until the pandemic ends.

I’m guessing very little breaks. No 3-4 days off. A game every second night for everyone, plus a more back to back nights.

In theory that should benefit a young/fit team like the Oilers but teams with the biggest depth will be the ones that survive best next season and I'm still not sure that's us yet, but I trust in KH to do some more magic before next season starts (hopefully)

If they want to play full 82 games in 2020-21 season then I don't understand how they would be able to squeeze in 2022 olympics the following season. I still believe it's not worth going to olympics. The negatives more than outweigh the benefits in my opinion but I know I'm in minority.
The free agency will be short and intense. I hope KH has done his homework and will be ready come November 1.

I trust Holland. He's done a phenomenal job with what had to work with. It's gonna be tough though, we have 10.1M to work. AA, Bear, and Benning are RFA. That right here could cost 8M+. Then Sheahan, Ennis, Smith and PRussell are UFA. If Bear gets more than 3M, then we might be running Skinner as our backup, with Benson and Marody/McLeod up full time. Unless Holland can manage to trade Neal AND/OR KRussell for picks.
As for the Olympics, I understand the negatives but I just can't help wanting to see the best of the best on the world stage.

Our salary cap situation's not great but neither is a lot of teams. Given the flat cap, there are going to be a lot of good players "let go" and I believe a lot of UFA's are going to have to eat humble pie. If oilers do well this year, I actually think some players might take a small discount for a chance to play with McD or Drai? If you were a decent winger would you take a 1-3 yr deal to ride shotgun with either of those 2 to pump your stats up for when the cap goes up again and you can cash in? I think I would as i dont think there would be many better opportunities elsewhere IMO. (hopefully players are getting a good impression of EDM and it's hospitality RN):-)

Normally, I'd say he gets 7 years @ 9.5M per. Now? I think he goes 3 years @ 7.5M per.

Agree! A friend and I were speculating that if we were in Hall's position and when he becomes UFA, we'd contact Seattle and gauge their interest as they may be the only team willing and able to sign him long term at 7x $9M? In the meantime, sign a 1yr deal at $7M to a contender and afterwards go to Seattle if they are willing, or test the waters again? For once, player agents are going to have to earn their money over next 3yrs IMO!!

Now that the playoffs are underway I'm curious who everyone is rooting for.
Personally, in the East I have to cheer for the only remaining Canadian club, The Montreal Canadians. I don't love them nor hate them but the fact that they are Canadian and an underdog gives me enough reason to root for them. I used to have a roommate quite awhile back when I was younger and he was a huge Habs fan, so I cheered along for them as he did the Oil for I, so I was a "kinda-sorta" Habs fan for a bit. So there's that too haha.
The West is different. Though the Flamers and Nix still remain as Canadian clubs I just can't find it in me to cheer for either, nor do I want to, so it's easy not to, haha. I'll be cheering for none other then the Chicago Blackhawks, the team that quickly put an end to our soft parade in and out of the "play-in" series. My reasoning is simple, it means at least we lost to the best, and I'll feel slightly better about our early exit, but not much haha.
I'm cheering for Canadians vs Blackhawks final. I'll predict it will be a Lightning vs Avalanche final.

I'm cheering for Islanders & Canadiens. Predicting Vegas vs. Caps in the final.

I’m not cheering for anyone as I’m a sore loser lol. Just kidding I’m going with the stars in the west. Simple reasoning as I want them to beat the flamers. In the east I’m going with Columbus. Reasoning is that I love to watch torts.

What an epic battle between Tampa and Columbus right now. I hope this will not make some people suggest the league implements a shootout in playoffs. Feeling bad for Boston and Carolina waiting for that ice.

Reasoning is that I love to watch torts. I hate that the NHL gave the stars a bye based on some arbitrary schedulers decision made in july 2019 and their obsession with trying to make the NHL "America's sport", but everyone outside of a few hundred fans in Dallas would have loved this to be a BoB and the NHL f'd it up big time. I cant say I'm cheering for the flames to make the next round, but i definitely dont want the stars there either. I will therefore remain ambivalent in that series. I hope Vegas wins so that the NHL can stop gifting them. I'm scared of the Avs winning as i think they can still get better and if that's the case it's going to make it tougher for the oilers to ever get out of the west. If STL repeat i wont be upset either. In the east I'd like to see the flyers they look like they deserve it based on their play so far, wont be upset if Ovie and caps win it again either

Wild re-sign Brodin 7 years at 6M per year. Good deal.
Holland will likely be looking to extend Klefbom around the same price in a couple years.

If Klef is still here? IMO if Klef is still our best D by the time is contract runs out, then its safe to say we will have achieved nothing during that time
