Edmonton Oilers @edmontonoilers · 1h What a February for Dylan Holloway. Fire
The #Oilers prospect racked up 17 points in eight games with @badgermhockey & was named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Player of the Month in @ncaaicehockey .

Take that Dylan. We will cure you of that little scoring too much ailment of yours.

Can Holloway blow the doors down and claim a top 6 spot out of camp?
There's precedent for it with players like Kyle Connor and Dylan Larkin.

He's got the size to do it, it will boil down to how well he performs and deals with adversity. I've been kind of hoping for that, but it's doubtful and chances are against it especially with Holland's track record of keeping prospects in the minors.

If he did make the team, it usually doesn't take Tippet long to promote a player if he looks like he can move up. Although we have seen him stubbornly stick with some things on occasion.

I’m definitely excited to see what he does, especially after watching what Caufield was able to do in such a short period of time.

It's funny everyone hopes Holloway will come out of the gate and play top 6 but in the same breath want us to sign a long term left winger like Hyman or Landeskog to a big contract. Do anyone honestly think Holloway is getting a shot at the top 6 if we sign a guy like that?

Do anyone honestly think Holloway is getting a shot at the top 6 if we sign a guy like that? I for one would like to see him on the 3rd line to have some more skill and scoring on the bottom 6 with no expectation of him playing with Draisaitl or McDavid except maybe on the PP if Holloway gets hot. The goal should be to add a top six winger and improve the secondary scoring at the same time so that even when other teams key in and shut down the top 2 there is at least a legitimate threat present still. I am all for building 3 scoring lines and having an energy/crash and bang 4th line.

If we are "following" the TB model, then having 3-4th line players on cheap contracts that are still good enough to play on top 6 is exactly what we should be hoping for and the exciting thing about Holloway is he has potential to play both styles. ie have good hands and a scoring touch, while being big and bold enough to like crashing and banging opposition too. He hasnt played a game yet so we should temper expectations, but from the limited amount I've seen of his play, its hard not to get excited about the possibilities.

I want to try a "Kid Line 3.0" in preseason.

Tampa Bays bottom 6 were/are hardly on cheap contracts. Goodrow was $4M, Gourde is $5.1M, Coleman was $6.5M, Johnson is $5M. That's 4 of the 6 bottom 6 guys all making $4M plus. Nothing cheap about it.
