The Devils have fired their coaching staff after an 0-4-2 start. Taylor Hall's 6th replacement coach, 6 games in to his 9th season.

They did actually add Tom Fitzgerald who is their current Asst. GM to the coaching staff and he'll be behind the bench. With Hall and Subban in one locker room and the poor start to the season one has to wonder what the writing on the wall is. I bet their head coach is gone by December if they don't turn things around fairly quickly.

interesting situation with Hall commenting about the fans in NJ. Yeah, that's a head shaker. While his comments may be true, is that the best way to fix the situation? Nope, didn't think so. I get the feeling that Hall is feeling like he's seen that somewhere else before but he just can't put his finger on where?

I still think there's a lot of "Causal" effect with Hall and that he's more a victim of the situations he finds himself in than being the cause of those situations. Fact is, he's unlikely to find himself on a cup contender any time soon because those teams are stacked and at the cap and don't have room for a high-priced winger. So he'll likely continue to toil with the lottery teams and people will say he's the reason they're a lottery team cos everyone expects him to change their fortune around but he's not "generational" enough to do that (Think Phil Kessel). Phil gets a lot of flak everywhere he goes but he's a helluva winger/scorer and Pens fans will tell you that there's no way they win 2 of those cups without him and yet he didn't change his game at all, he just works better as a second/third fiddle. Hall would/will be the same I think and even better than Phil. Will he get to go to a team where he can be a "complimentary player" who knows? There was a time when I believe his ego would not let him accept being complimentary but that changed when he was "briefly" on the team with McD and realised being with other elites, even ones better than you, can have both practical and financial rewards. I'd have him back now but have no idea where the money/cap would come from??

Friedman reported the other day that Hall's agent will be meeting with the Devils this coming week, will be interesting to see which way that goes. With the way things are going in New Jersey it seems like he'll get dealt by the deadline and hit free agency in the summer.

I still have a Hall jersey in my closet. Tried to get rid of it a few years ago. Maybe I should hang onto it a bit longer.

And, if he goes to FA and changes teams again on July 1st he'll be on his 4th team in 9 years. Interesting.

Hall to me is a hard player to figure out, he can pass obviously with the number of assists he has this season, he has a good shot (I've seen it), and he can skate. He's incredibly inconsistent though and can't drive a team like a #1 pick should, he seems to lack grit for a player his size. He's always had so much talent around him, he's a bit of a puzzle. Any team is taking a chance in acquiring him. The 2 seasons before this year he was over a point per game, obviously a bit of a fall off this year. Last year only 30 games played, the Devils obviously want something for him rather than watch him walk in July.

I was at the Vegas game last night. A little hook, a little tug and Hall was off his game. The play ended with him many times and he still pouts his way back to the bench. Nygaard looks better and that is not a joke. No way do I want that Hall on the Oilers. Not sure he fits with the Coyotes either, or even wants to.

The devils have managed to get the stink off themselves pretty quickly and at least look like a team again as for the yotes, I'm keeping my head up watching for a coyote falling without a parachute to rocket past us on the way to the basement. Fallzy has the team on his back and will carry them to draft podium glory. Their fans are already lamenting the disappearance of their defensive structure.

I've actually been following the Hall curse as of late. Intriguing, I can't find an updated record of the Coyotes since the trade. I can't remember when exactly, something like a couple of weeks ago but it was something like 10-17-5 since the trade. I don't think that's correct.

It wasn't great but be careful of "causality" analysis. The hall trade coincided with Kuemper going down basically the same day. Now that Kuemper is back, the yotes record is already starting to dramatically improve, which suggests to me that if the yotes make or miss the playoffs, it will have more to do with if Kuemper gets back to his vezina quality tending than Hall getting back to his MVP year in NJ. If both things happen, It will be bad news for the Nucks and Flames!

But also the other side is New Jersey got better, post Hall trade. Never know the actuality to this "Hall curse". Too many variables.

But, in a tight race, that's too many regulation losses to recover from.
