Not really, since your draft position do not matter after number of years.
2013 was only 4 years after he got drafted.
So after you get drafted,u draft position.does not matter.

I keep hearing figures like $3.25/yr to $3.5/yr, over a 3-year term for Kass. There are those that would argue that $3/yr should be the max. I wouldn't risk losing Kass for a difference of $0.5 million...he's someone that the Oilers need going into our "window" playoff years.
Better ways to save money (start with not spending lots on FAs this summer).

With a rising cap I'd be fine with either but if we can get him even cheaper that'd be great.

He could get 4 million but it's 3.5 million.

Thinking that watching what the replacements for Kass are doing with McDavid should be good for our negotiation.

I hope they give him 5 years but try to get him at 2.75. Still gives him a huge pay day but low cap hit.

Reports are coming out the Oil and Kass are close. It's purported to be between 3 and 3.25 avg. This is a good signing for Edmonton, congratulations. Kass is a big heart, emotional player that is playing well and protecting his fellow players.

Thinking that watching what the replacements for Kass are doing with McDavid should be good for our negotiation. Arch has filled in very nicely so I hope that can help get Kass locked up a little cheaper, but either way I hope they announce it soon. Arch is doing very good but if we make the play offs Kass will be the guy that fits there better. Toughness will ramp up and a little bit of crazy patrolling McDavid's wing will not hurt us at all.

Kassian is a well rounded do it all winger still in his prime. $5.5 million AVG is my guess. More proof that you know the square root of nothing about the Oilers...………...and no doubt before we know it, you will be on here AGAIN telling us how tough Milan Lucic (also known as the disappearing man) is. Did he suit up last night? I thought I saw him in the background with a confused look on his face when things got physical but can't be sure. We had Nuge, Bear, Gagner and even Smith throwing punches but no sign of Lucic, none whatsoever. You were told about Lucic lack of physical participation when it really mattered, but would you listen? Please keep posting, it is good for a laugh on a dull day.
