Maybe JP would have responded better to Tippett’s coaching style. The problem is that it wasn't just the coaches. Information I got was that there were even a bunch of players on this roster that requested to not be put on a line with him. JP's issues are on him, not the coach IMO. Oh I get that, but the way a coach interacts with players can also change their mentality. Kinda like how Hall admitted he refused to listen to coaches here in Edmonton but then when he got to NJ he responded differently to their coach and realized what he was doing was wrong.

Could we use JP as a sweetener to get Manning or even Russell off the books, and replace the 3rd we're going to have to give to the Flames?....actually, I don't think we should give up Russell JP+Manning to for a 3rd(and, $2.25m Cap space) Maybe it gives us a chance to be a buyer at the deadline.

I mean, Manning is off the books anyway after this season. I'd rather trade Russell at the deadline or draft day. That way we'll for sure have the space to pay Nurse.

If JP was here, he couldn't crack this lineup. May as well keep raising his value abroad. Maybe JP would have responded better to Tippett’s coaching style. Maybe we shouldn't let the tail wag the dog

Good riddance JP. We don’t need him, I just wish we could get something in return for a 4OA pick. Hey, NJ got Hall for Larsson, maybe we can trade JP for J. Hughes? No?

Great article, and that's exactly what the article states is that they are looking is JP for JG, but the Oilers want a sweetener. Honestly, if they don't move him by Dec 1 we could be in a whole heap of trouble, and after reading elite prospects assessment of JG if I was Holland I'd be lowering my ask a little bit and bite the bullet on a player for player trade. www.eliteprospects.com/player/213464/julien-gauthier

I'd be good with that deal. Hell, I'd be good with it straight across. No sweetener required for me. I don't think JP will ever be effective NHLer. As Im'typing this, I'm thinking why the Canes do this?

He's been very quiet thus far in the season. It’s far far too early to pass judgement on any player. Kessel has 1 point too. As does Pavelski, Krejci, Couturier, Myers, Toews, Horvat, Malkin, Giroux, Simmonds, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I merely stated that he needs to get his game going, which he does and most likely will.

Holland is in the driver's seat as far as trading JP....the longer JP plays in Europe, the more he adds to his value (which was zilch when he left). And as word gets out about the Canes interest in JP, perhaps other teams who are fence sitters will step up.

Might be happening sooner than later? Reported Karpat signed someone to replace Puljujarvi, but I can see Holland holding on, too.

The longer it goes on for, the more teams get interested, the higher his price gets. Let it ride as long as it can, or until a great offer comes along.

Glad KH didn't knee jerk a trade for a spooner-like anchor on this. It sounds like JP is upping his value. I always wondered if we had a good vet Fin here if things would have been different but with the boys playing well and getting good results and him playing well and getting good results, he is now worth more than he was at the start of the season. It's so nice to have some asset management for a change!!

When Larsson gets back and up to speed, is there a deal to be made with one of our dmen for a upgrade to the bottom 6?
The Leafs need a dman that plays defense. But they have no Cap room, and neither do we. Gotta be dollars in dollars out. We only have Klef and Russell under contract after this season. I'm sure there's other teams that could us e a depth guy, too. Manning and Benning are both playing better. Russell is over priced but effective, and there's lots of overpriced 4mil forwards that might pop some offense in to our bottom6. Might be a better return on the dollars that we're spending either way.
I don't know. Just spitballing.
