No, if it's a money thing they'll trade Kane first.

I agree the Oil has to keep Leon, or risk also losing McD. Same happened in Calgary not so long ago. Players know they hold the cards in situations like this. Gaudreau held out that he loved the city and wanted to be here, til he didn't... My flavor of the day is Vanilla, but will flip to a Cherry Red Head sometimes. Flames aren't going anywhere with the new arena deal in a lock. Teams hold gov't ransom and Calgary is just as important to politicians as Edmonton.

Draisaitl is an amazing hockey player that could lead a team to a SC on his own. Johnny hockey haha, give your head a shake bud.

After what the fans did to Gondek, dont be shocked if she and YYC council suddenly have a change of heart I know nothing of it, educate me. Are you saying the arena deal isn't done? In their last home game Flames celebrated "south asian culture" and gondek was guest of honour. however when she was introduced, the entire crowd loudly booed and heckled her. I had a few buddies at the game and they said it was absolutely deafening and she was really disturbed and shaken up by it! I dislike Gondek immensely, but there's a time and place and I believe it also had something to do with the petition currently circulating to have her removed. As for it affecting the arena deal, i was kinda pulling your leg, but honestly, until ground is broken and building begins, projects like this one can be scrapped, at last second, especially if there are big changes to municipal govt? there are large sectors of this govt and opposition that dont want any tax dollars going to a sports arena, especially in this economic and political climate

Could you explain to me the hate of Gonzek? What economic and political issues Calgary is dealing with that any other major Mayor in Canada doesn't have?

This isnt and shouldn't be a political forum but it's safe to say She has fully aligned herself with the policies of fed liberals and seems to want to follow them and a YVR pattern of governance for YYC. A quick barometer check and you would see that those 2 styles of Govt arent exactly popular right now in Alberta, especially YYC, hence the petition (which has zero chance of succeeding but has still garnered well over 100k votes last i saw (only 400k people total voted in last civic election)). Economic and political issues may be common throughout Canada and indeed most of the planet right now, but it's how you want to deal with them that divides everyone and right now she is trying to chart a course most Calgarians dont agree with

Good lord. Can all this Mangiapane be put into the flames thread. None of it pertains to the Oil and Armchair GMing our own team. Flo is trolling his boat here, ruining this thread. Joke.

So here we are with 3 days off, then 6 games in 9 days, 5 in 7. Yikes. Know we want to win the division but don't want out guys worn out. They are saying after the TDL that we can exceed the 23 man roster and since we have 226k we can call up guys and their cap hit does not apply, only the few remaining days left in the season. Example, calling up a player costs the team 50-60k. Then you can call up 3-4 guys easily. Holloway, Gags, Broberg and JC/Rogrgue or ? Would like our stars to play 4 out of the remaining 6 games. Going to need some load management.
What do you guys think. Have not confirmed the above but it is a nice loophole.

Conner still has a shot at the scoring title and the team still has a shot at winning the division. I don't see the top guys sitting. Maybe a couple of the bottom 6 but Carrick isn't even seeing as much ice as he could. I am curious what happened with Perry and Kane on Saturday vs the Flamers. Perry was clearly hot and both guys appeared to have been benched to finish the game. Infighting is never a good thing. I think that there are a few guys on the Condors that deserve a call up but it won't be to rest the top guys as long as they are playing for something.

It was Perry getting mad at a sloppy pass by Kane that got picked off and Perry, getting ready for the playoffs expects better from his teammates going into what could be his last playoffs. The commentators were discussing this, but it was speculation.

Interesting loophole i didn't know about, I thought they couldnt bring guys up until reg season ended? If this is the case, i can see them bringing up guys early and although i dont think there's any way the "stars" will be sat, there are at least 3 potentially "Easy" games where they could adopt load management and keep them down to 15mins or less in those games and still allow them to "pad" their stats and go for the div title? I think it will depend on how the games play out? If oilers can get a 3 goal lead or something early enough, then it makes sense to rest them. That's how I'd play it and of course roll them out for the PP's as we need that to be and stay sharp for the playoffs.

That's how I'd play it and of course roll them out for the PP's as we need that to be and stay sharp for the playoffs. This is what they are saying. We have some cap space which is why we can. We can only have a 20 man roster to play the games though. But after the TDL there is no 23 man roster limit, so we can call up 3-4 guys to play the easier games and give some players some rest. We would all like a div title, would be the 1st in over 30 years. Have to look at the schedule though, it is brutal. I don't think McD cares about the scoring title, as long as he gets 100 assists he will be happy. 1 more assist to go, then he will be one of 4 players in history to do so. Drai already got his 40 goals, Hyman 50+ so think it's about winning now. 5 games in 7 days then 1 or 2 days off max (not 3 or 4 as projected) does not allow for any rest at all. That's the problem.
