I don't know if anyone told the Jets goalie but you have to win a couple cups and be in the mix to win more before you're even considered capable of a dynasty...lol Does Hellebuyck realize they just got swept in the second round or did a puck hit him in the head? This has to be one of the most delusional statements I've heard from an NHL Player. Scheifele: Department of Player Safety 'shut me down' Wow... Between the whining and crying he goes over the top and blames the NHL. illegal hit that injures a player and he thinks he did nothing wrong and is a victim. I used to really like him as a player but the more he opens his mouth the more I see a self centered whiner crying he did not get his way...Here's a tip...keep your head up next time you play the Canadiens fool. By the written rule Scheifele is guilty of charging. By the game played there should be 3 - 4 charging penalties a game. Speaking of keeping your head up. If this was done on the play by the Habs player this wouldn't even be a conversation. |

Players and coaches whining about the reffing and DOPs is a good thing IMO as they are more likely to cause change than fans whining, although tbh NHL seems very happy to keep the status quo. I dont really expect change unless the Betting Boys, sponsors and TV folks complain as they are the money, and Money as we know talks! As for Sheif, the attack on his family was simply wrong on all levels and it sickens me that there are people in this world who can stoop that low. FWIW, I guessed his suspension at 1-2 games so I also have no idea what magic 8 ball the DOPES (Department of Phony Excuse Suspensions) use. Cassidy calling out refs IMO was another teapot calling the kettle black but it did work! For $25K, Cassidy bought 3pps to isles 1 and they went 2-3 on those pp. If Tipp had spent some of Katz's money and really called out the refs, would we have been swept?? Who knows, water under the bridge now. Sadly, NHL doesn't give a Kuzmenko about oilers, jets, flames, sens,and nucks and only a cursive nod to Habs and Leafs, because you guessed it, They bring in gobs and Gobs of money!, so they NHL cant piss them off too much. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs!

Evans had to know the hit was coming... that being said, I do think Schieffle should have excercised more caution to a vulnerable player and made certain not to make head contact. Scheiffle deserved the time off.
Winnipeg dynasty?? If I was a Winnipeg fan I'd be happy just getting the first one.

I guess it depends on what side of fence you're on? From my Oiler perspective, if Sheif did that to McDavid, I'd want a big suspension, If McD or Drai did that to an opposing player, I'd want/expect them to get 1-2 games. I'd be completely pissed if they'd get suspended 4 playoff games. Therefore, I must say I kind of sympathise with him re DOPs/NHL, they are completely random with their fines and suspensions. Afterall, this is a guy with no priors and no history of bad behaviour. He's wondering like I am, how the Kuzmenko do wilson and Reeves get away with murder and he gets nailed? Put it another way: Although both hits by Kadri and Sheifele were illegal and warranted suspension, they can be easily construed as hockey plays gone awry. ie both players went in for a hit and had a split second to decide "Should I back off/ease up, or make the guy pay? both decided to try and make the guy with his head down pay. Bad decisions and worthy of a suspension IMO. However, you Now look at what Wilson and Reeves did and ON what planet would either of those actions be called a "Hockey" play?  What those 2 did had absolutely ZERO to do with hockey and would warrant criminal charges and Jail time if they did those things 10ft outside of the stadium! The NHL says they want to eliminate fighting and this stuff from hockey but their actions show the exact opposite intentions and is completely Hypocritical. What wilson and reeves did was completely pre-meditated, egregious and completely outside of anything remotely connected to the sport. For the record, I personally don't mind a good old fashioned spontaneous hockey fight, or even one pre-meditated if the guys look one another in the eye and mutually drop the gloves. What Reeves and Wilson did was far more cowardly and has ZERO place in hockey and IMO the league should try and get rid of permanently, but their slaps on the wrist suggest the NHL is not only fine with this kind of behaviour, but it has great entertainment value and tantamount encouraged it through the DOPs actions. However, A split second bad decision? not acceptable! hang them high is DOPs's motto! |

Read the title...Hellebuyck believes Jets are close to becoming 'a dynasty' I know your a huge jets Fan and I do like the team as well. Hellebuyck stating "We're very close to being able to make runs and being a dynasty" is a absolutely dumb statement...they have not won anything yet. These were the exact words by him. if Mike Smith came out at the end of the season with the same statement I would have said he was delusional as well. Last I heard you had to win 4 to 5 cups to be considered a dynasty and that is why only a select few teams in history have achieved it. For any player who's team has won diddly to claim there close to making runs and being a dynasty is without a doubt a bizarre and delusional statement, even worse when you were swept in the second round. This team finished in 14th place in the regular season. Maybe Hellebuyck should think of winning a division title or a Presidents trophy first, see how that goes and even if they could get one cup obviously he has no idea how hard it is to repeat that amazing accomplishment. Maybe a middle six forward that can up up points and play in the dirty areas, a tough Dman, and a couple good depth players.
