Looking like Caleb Jones and a mid round pick, 3d or 4th round as per Frank Seravalli

Looking like Caleb Jones and a mid round pick, 3d or 4th round as per Frank Seravalli 5.54m per year with Chicago retaining 0. Seems like an overpayment for a 37 yr old. Hope I'm wrong.

I can live with it as it's just two years, provided ...
I'm really crossing my fingers he can Oates our emerging young dmen instead of Ferrence-ing our D if you know what I mean.

It’s a third round pick. Not sure if it’s this year or next.

Just one thing to add - you need to think of this as if it's your money - his cap is 5.54 per year, but that's not what Katz is paying him. It's like Lucic in reverse. We (Katz) is paying about 3.6M of his salary based on how the contract was structured (top heavy). So yes, the CAP is 5.5, but Katz will now be paying 2M below for cap team. Good business deal for him. That being said, it would have been nice if we didn't have to give up the mid round pick - Jones with full salary retention should have been enough IMO.

So the Oilers lose about 7 mil in cap space over 2 seasons plus Jones and a pick. Hope Chicago at least provided the KY.

Neal and a sweetener are likely going to Seattle.

This tells me they know Klef will not be back this year. I also assume they will now not sign Larsson until after the expansion draft.

If Klefbom doesn’t play this year you guys save his $4.1 million on LTIR, so the cap hit isn’t that bad. Save Klefbom for the playoffs and you can play the same cap games T.B. just pulled off.

This is the worst deal of KH's short career in charge of oil. If he makes another like this i hope his career here stays really short. This is crap and PC-esque. In fact its worse than Hall for Larsson, at least Larsonn was a decent D-man and had a lower cap. Keith is washed up and is about to turn 38. I dont give a Kuzmenko about his intangibles and I dont give a Kuzmenko about him wanting to spend more time with his guide. If thats what he wants then retire already and do us all a favour. When people stop drinking the koolaid, they'll look at Kh's last 3 trades and See AA, Green and now Keith. That is a fireable legacy IMO. rant over

btw, what is also PC-esque is the stupid timing of this trade, so now what? we protect him and leave someone of actual value off the protected list?? WTF is he thinking doing this now and not after the expansion, what's the rush?? Afraid some other retard is going to scoop him up before us?? I dont think there's another GM in the NHL dumb enough to give up what he did for Keith. put me officially on the fire KH bandwagon and he can take that mediocre Coach with him!!!

What bad trade. Why didn't we get the draft pick?

It’s a third round pick. Not sure if it’s this year or next. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oilers do not have a 3rd round pick this year. KH is giving away too many draft picks. I agree with drtaff that when you look at the deal for AA and Green, KH is loosing my confidence and has just undone the good will he earned with the Lucic trade. I will wait and see what else Holland does to round out the D for next year before I say too much on the team he is building, but this trade in and of itself is a win for Chicago and I am sick and tired of seeing the Oilers on the loosing end of trades!

Apparently he will be 38 before the season starts............I can see why we would want a player of his experience, but surely we have either way over paid for Keith, or at best, been suckered into taking on all of his salary. For me at this point in time, Bowman has taken us to the cleaners yet again......what was KH thinking of? if I am wrong about this, I will be the first to come on here and say so, time will tell I guess. That is already 5.5m of our available spending gone, less what Jones was earning, and that couldn't have been anything significant. This isn't quite PC like, but I expected more from Ken Holland. We were supposed to hold all the aces, looks like KH folds at the first sign of his opposite GM's bluff.

Neal and a sweetener are likely going to Seattle. Now we are talking! If that happens, all is forgiven KH .

I'll wait to see how Keith plays on the ice for the Oilers before I say yay or nay. I'm torn on one hand Keith was one of the best in his prime and has great experience he can pass on. Also I hear he can still skate decently. He was a great passer so he should still have that going for him. He'll also be playing behind Nurse so he won't see the toughest opposition. The negatives are that is a big cap hit to take on and the fans on this site seem to feel he's washed up ( I have not watched enough Chicago games in the last couple of years to decide.).
