Edmonton Journal article that talks about Kane’s hits per game going from 4.3 in October to 1.2 in January. It also talks about the practices he is sitting out and leak he is dealing with an unidentified core injury. Numbers likely would go down just from him moving to the third line, but there’s definitely smoke here, I think. “ If you watch Kane closely, you’ll notice that he’s still having trouble getting low and digging in fast and hard in puck battles. Sure hope the medical staff can get him there. If true, i hope the all-star break is enough? Some say Brown is still not 100% either? It kinda sucks that if both are true, the only real option KH has to get them rest is to put them on LTIR? We have the bodies now to replace them temporarily, but I imagine there's tons of cap implications in doing this, apart from their being enough medical reason to do so and the fact both would be reluctant to do so as well? It's almost like the NHL needs an intermediate between day-today and LTIR, that allows teams to bring up players short term without cap implications? It would probably be abused a lot but if "player safety" is supposed to be #1 priority, players playing injured or at far below 100% could be very dangerous and threaten careers and health long term?
