Very nice, no dancing with our demons. Getting some calls. They get a bounce, we get a bounce. Finally get some rest after a series and that should pay dividends. Preds keep pounding on the Nucks and at least a game 7 please. Only sad thing is no Oilers hockey for 5-7 days. Yah no hockey sucks balls Some of the other series are quite entertaining and it'd be nice to see both nucks and Leafs choke in a game 7, sooner for the leafs and i wont mind at all

Would we prefer the Preds or the Canucks?
What's the Demko situation? That makes a big difference.

Would we prefer the Preds or the Canucks? What's the Demko situation? That makes a big difference. I think the Predators are going to bring a similar style as the Kings did, physical hockey with a lower end of offense. Oilers also have a history of lighting Saros up. Canucks have a higher motor style with Offensive in mind. They've come down to earth since their insane PDO, and they're on their second and third goaltenders with showing of a weaker defensive game. Watching Hughes get tossed around in his own zone, isn't a recipe for success for which is on the ice the most. I think DeSmith comes back, and Demko is probably out. Oilers also didn't solve DeSmith in the regular season. So I'm not worried about either, but I'd says I prefer the Predators over Canucks. They've played the Oilers well, that I'm not confident of the match up. And for rivalry sake, it'd be funny for the Canucks to be knocked out in the first round.

I think you did a pretty good job at summing things up. My only difference is that I think if we end up playing Vancouver the Oilers will play them hard, evaluating the Canucks and eventually grinding them down game after game. I could see that series going 6 or 7 games, but would not be surprised if we took them out in 5 also.

Vancouver sure seems to have our number. In the bubble all season we had the Jets number, then come playoff time they swept us. I mean you never really know. Anyhow go Preds!

I want to go on record stating how proud I am of the way the Oilers played and in particular how proud I am of both Skinner and Desharnais. Desharnais, the guy was a 7th round draft pick with very little chance of ever seeing ice time in the NHL. Both he and Skinner were rookie prospects assigned to lower level developmental teams and both guys struggled at first. Eventually with hard work they both improved and started rising up the levels. By now they were good friends and teammates who shared a determination to improve through hard work. Fast forward and here they are both teammates for the Oilers.
Their team importance does not stop there. When you stop and think of the implications of their development, you realize that if the Oilers actually do go on to the cup final that these guys will be huge difference makers when all is said and done. Why are they such big difference makers you ask? The reason is that if they had not continued to develop, the Oilers would be short a starting goalie and a shut down defenceman. Both crucial roles for a Stanley Cup team.
No Skinner and we'd be sunk without a good Starter. Skinner is a good starter, a very good starter who just so happens to be young and trending up. He has an incredibly calm and mature mindset and he continues to work hard improving his game. I have nothing but great respect for what he brings to the team. Our goalie situation went from lemons to lemonaide which is just exactly what we really needed the most.
Desharnais, while not being quite as crucial to the overall scheme of things is still a very important piece of the Oilers moving forward. If we did not have Desharnais, who is still getting better each game, We would be struggling along without an extra shutdown man to close out games or throw out on the penalty kill. In a year that is crucial regarding the MC/Drai years we would be short that very important extra shutdown Dman because of the salary cap. With the development of Desharnais we did not need to bring in another player to fill that role, Vinny grew into that player and he does it well.
I also think Nurse deserves a shoutout because he is making a huge difference by finally simplifying his game and no longer taking as many dangerous chances by pinching so much. Nurse making mistakes hurts the team and does not earn his paycheck. Nurse playing the right way is close to earning his paycheck and is almost like replacing a bad player with a good one, which in essence is what he's doing. He's replacing bad Nurse who pinches and watches the puck go in the Oiler net, compared to good Nurse who plays good defence and repels goals away from the Oiler net.
Lastly I'm just so proud of the whole team for the way they are playing. Knoblauch and Coffey are both great coaches and have really prepared the Oilers well, calming them down at the right times and motivating them when needed. Things have really fell together almost perfectly when you think of it and I couldn't be happier about it.

FUN!! Proud of the boyz as well! They stayed focused throughout the series and played their game to make swift work of them pesky Kings, Ba-bye in five! Special teams indeed the biggest difference as we went 9/18 on the PP and 13/13 on the PK. We drew even at 13/13 5x5. Special teams baby! Whole team is playing great quite frankly, and a shout out to Nurse who led the series for us with 17 blocked shots, and Henrique with 22 hits. I'm kinda in the 'don't care who we play next' crowd too as I am confident we would beat both Nash or Van but bc of the past and how we seem to own Nash while Van had our number this year I'd have to lean towards the Preds. No matter. Still basking in the victory over the Kings and am gonna enjoy it for awhile as the boyz rest up and prepare for the next series. Let the good times roll! GOG!!

We've owned the preds for the most part and Drai in particular seems to feast on them. nucks without DemKo are not quite the formidable opponent as when he's in the line up. still, deSmith is a good goalie and even Silovs has played really well (where the hell do nucks keep finding these gems and who from their goalie development do we need to steal)? I probably hate nucks fans more than leafs fans so would like to see them eliminated in rnd 1 after being up 3-1 would be even sweeter! If we meet them then the hockey gods could become very fickle again and IDK why nucks had our number this year, all I know is that they have!! whether this means anything is debatable, but I feel more confident of beating Preds quickly and then having time to rst up for the really big one of stars/Avs or LV

Well let’s beat the hell out of the Vanboover Cansucks! It'll be interesting to see what the Oilers corp has learned, put it together. Cut throat attitudes.

Well let’s beat the hell out of the Vanboover Cansucks! It'll be interesting to see what the Oilers corp has learned, put it together. Cut throat attitudes. I think you're describing what the Oilers appear to be learning to do better as they go. You need the skill, the size, the role players, the depth, the toughness and the cut throat attitude to go deep. I think our proud squad has all that and is motivated to fight their way through and they are also motivated by a sense of pay back. The Oilers have motivation to pay back the Canucks, and should they be successful they also have similar motivation for whoever comes out of the Avalance vs the Stars/Knights series. There is going to be some really good hockey coming up!!

Anybody know when game 1 is? They said Tuesday. Let's trust and hope that what happened to the Jets vs Avs happens for us (sweeping in the reg season, losing badly in the playoffs). Vancouver seems to have our number. We don't have home ice. Their luck is bound to run out, they were very fortunate to beat the Preds. Saros did not play well until last night. He had an .867 and after last night a .900 for the series. We need that .900 goaltending, we can outscore the Preds and pretty much any other team. Despise the Nucks as much as the Flames. Nucks fan base is about as rancid as there is in the NHL.

Yes yuke, tonight I'm extremely joyful with the leafs loss. Living in Ontario have to hear about the leafs, the wings and the Canadians, so it's nice that that's over with now. Go Oilers. Going to be a very tough series.
Extreme joy tonigh, giddy lol

Oh baby this is going to be such a fun series. I really hope we stomp the crap out of them. Two highly skilled offensive teams, will we see goals galore? Will it be a battle of special teams? Defense? Goaltending? All of the above? YUP! Can Not Wait!!

Defense? Goaltending? All of the above? YUP! Can Not Wait!! Oh it could definitely be fun... but we've seen what SHOULD have been fun series go south in our recent past. Jets and Avalanche come to mind. Our team has to be at their best and hope to Kuzmenko that they see at least decent officiating

I think this series hinges on how well the Oilers PK does.
