Hiking

I can't be the only hiker here. As an AB immigrant, I knew I was finally home when I saw The Mountains. And I try to spend what little free time I have in Them.
Did Ha Ling for the the first time this past weekend - got to the saddle, but with wind gusts that felt like 50 km/h (going UP the Mountain), I wasn't willing to try to peak. Had no poles, and just my regular summer hiking boots (good, but no spikes or anything fancy). That final 400 meters, that go 100m up, will have to wait until summer. Amazing how a mildly cool day at the start ends up with getting your face slapped by wind and snow. Slipped a few times on the various ice patches on the way down, but no lasting damage. Just good memories.
Just learned that the staircases are a brand new add. No wonder we could still smell the varnish.
I'm terrible at photos but wanted to share a few pics (had to crop to fit the 1MB limit)

Love hiking, second favorite exercise after cycling.
Hardest I've done has been the B&P trail from the Lynne Valley Suspension Bridge to Deep Cove in North Vancouver.
Since I've moved to Victoria I've frequented locales like Mount Tolmie, Mount Douglas, the Thetis Park and Mystic Vale among others.
I liked Mill Creek while I still lived in Edmonton.
