Keep in mind this is a guy who was coming from a European schedule. He also only had 1 start in October so he played over 50 games between November and mid April. That’s a big adjustment. Hitch even used him on both nights of back to backs. True. I mean he has played close to that before, 49, but the competition is a lot higher now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk He was a bit younger then as well. Not sure why my reply didn't work on that last post. Is there a way to delete posts? Weird my post shows up as blank for me but you seem to have quoted it.

Yeah but lots of goalies in their 30s play 50+ games a season. Dubnyk, Price, Bobrovsky, Fleury, Andersen, Holtby, Rinne, Howard, Lundqvist, etc. Not saying Koskinen is at the level of some of those, but they’re all 30 or older and play a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk But how many played their first NHL 50+ game season at 30?

Oh I know, I just interpreted it as it was easier for him to play 49 at 23 years old than play that much at 31. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Our goaltending is improved over last season and is also being helped by an improved defense and a whole team concept of a 5 man group. As long as this keeps up we will be able to hide a lot of warts on our tandem that in years gone by would have been exposed to prey upon. We don't have any other options now so dig in and enjoy it as it comes.

Solely because of the fact that he put up stellar numbers at the beginning of last season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Seems to have adjusted well, and we've got a good thing going with him and Smith right now. Smitty took one right in the Kent Hehrs last night so we'll see where we go from here. This two-on two-off thing seems to be working and I hope it continues to work. Smith has been OK so far and looking at his past few years, he's got a hot stretch in him. Hopefully the tandem approach keeps working.

Time will tell, but we don't have many options there.

I sure hope I haven't jynxed the Oilers. I picked up Koskinen in my fantasy league I may get myself on the stinker list here, but I can't help myself. Bronco, what is this "Global Moderator" title all about? Is it a description of your duties, do you moderate other forums across the planet? Do you try to attain a worldly view and therefore worldly status. Is there an international board of moderators? Or is it just physically descriptive?

Something about having to prove myself or some crap like that. Frankly I think they are trying to push me out.

Hillcat, SuperDave and Admin that needs a name are good but you're the man, Bronco. Who else could put up with us and still smile? I guess they do to, but you know what I mean.

Tomorrow is the big day and I'm up early because I may be a touch nervous. I'll be in the hospital probably 4-5 days minimum recovering but I still don't know for sure. I'll be back on the boards when I can sit at this desk again, but that could be a while because again I don't know how long I'll be flat on my back. Wish me luck guys because I just might need it. There are a few risks to this surgery but I've got a very good doctor. I'll try and be back as soon as possible to be the same obnoxious poster as you've come to expect.

Koskinen now 6-1-1. He needs to play more. He’s been unbelievable. 31-22-7 as an Oiler. Gem pick up by Chiarelli.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Seriously, Kos has been very good of late. He has put some hard work in over the summer and it shows and we are benefitting from his hard work.

Goaltending has been good. Only a few "eeeesshhhh" performances. But that is true of even Great goaltending. Hope it continues. It will be the difference between playoffs and golf this year.
Good to see team d and the d corps both contributing to this.
