sitting here watching triple OT thinking that Stamkos is a spare part on the Lightning. We should take a run at him.

So Rangers plan to go whale hunting and we plan to go duck hunting? i.e SS is a lame duck and I'm not sure I'd even do that deal except to put him on LTIR to free up cap space. However if Katz don't mind splashing that kind of cash, I say Heck, go for it!!

Lehner re-signs in Vegas for 5 years at $5M per year. Vegas can now retain 2 million of Fleury's salary and trade him. And their cap does not change.

Dallas re-signs Andrej Sekera for 2 years and 3M per year.
I'm happy for the guy. I did want him kept and Russell bought out. I think we would have been in better shape. But I do understand his health was a real concern, so his buyout makes sense.
Ryan Strome NOT qualified by the Rangers yet, even though DeAngelo, Georgiev, and Lemieux were. Does Holland make a phone call?

Sure, phone calls cost nothing;-) I'd be ok with Strome at the right price and term but i'm guessing he wants more than what I'd offer (my offer would be less than $3Mx3yr). He wasn't the player here that he was in NYR and history has a funny way of repeating itself. Sekera was one of PC's less dumber moves (the buyout), but made dumber by immediately signing Russel at $4M so with buyout he essentially replaced Sekera with Russel and no cap saved. I still scratch my head over that? Sek had huge Q's over fitness but at least you knew you either had a top 4 D or a nice LTIR cap savings if you kept him?

Chiarelli signed Russell to his $4M contract on June 23, 2017.

My bad, I guess I'm thinking that it was 2017 when AS tore his ACL and PC signed Russel immediately after (way overpriced for an inadequate replacement of AS IMO). The KH buyout of AS I guess had to happen since there was not much he could do with a hobbled AS at $5.5M and Russel already committed to $4M. Can't really blame PC for the torn ACL, but Russell at $4Mx4 made no sense at the time and still doesn't.

So I heard that Bruins were less than luke warm on OEL, leaving just Van as the team he'll go to. Q is, how bad do yotes want his contract gone? OEL's value has fallen like a lead brick and mostly because of him and his agent. I've gone from desperately wanting him on our team to thinking hard-pass. Plus, if yotes decide what van offers isn't enough, how motivated will the guy be to put his body on the line night in night out for a team that doesnt want him? It may be an over-simplification but a player who refuses to leave a bottom team obviously doesnt care about winning. At least Hall has said "step right up" I'm willing to listen to any and all offers. I know which guy i'd go for (not that the oilers will get either.

Vegas was already crazy good. With the addition of AP in my opinion they are my pick to win the cup this season.

Vegas was already crazy good. With the addition of AP in my opinion they are my pick to win the cup this season. I really hate that they gave Nate smith to nucks for basically nothing though, but it is the gambling capital of the world, so they've literally gone all in. They still have to shed cap from somewhere so if the AP experiment doesnt bring them a cup within the next 2-3 years they will start to look more like arizona IMO.I wonder how that will go down in the desert?
