I think the teams that are in an up trend are Vegas, MTL (if they resign Gallagher), Buffalo, Ottawa, NYI (big fan of Aho), and Toronto with their signings. Middle of the road Calgary & Edmonton, both teams need a top notch defenseman to supplement what they have now. Downtrend Vancouver so far unless they get OEL, Winnipeg, STL, and Carolina.

Avs IMO are in same boat as Calgary and Edmonton but have far more offensive forward depth. Lightning have so much defensive and offensive talent I have to vote them despite what happened 2 seasons ago. NYI being black swan along with Vegas.

They are a deadly squad. I think the Islanders took a step back in this free agency off season. I think in the East it's going to be Tampa Philly and Boston fighting for tops and in the west Colorado Dallas and Vegas. But I think next year the best team will be the Av's.

Why did Montreal extend Allen, is there something wrong with Price?

Generally you don't extend your back up goalie especially for 2.8 or whatever it was. What if Montreal craps the bed Allen would have value at the deadline. Granted the extension shouldn't be scary to teams.

I've heard talk of Corey Perry to Calgary.
Honestly I wouldn't doubt it. They deserve each other.

Buffalo signs Sam Reinhart 1yr $5.2m
Seems like a slight overpay on dollars, but Buffalo is kind of in the same boat as us when it comes to signings.

Lots of speculation on the upcoming season, if it happens. Ignoring all that and hypothetically thinking, if there is to be a season and it was only 48-60 games condensed, would that bode well for the Oilers, or worse? There would probably be many more back-to-backs so goaltending (as always) will be crucial, even more so in a compacted season. Is this good or bad for our Koski/Smith combo? I might have to look into the past #s on that. So much up in the air right now, hard to even speculate on anything right now.

I've been saying for a long time that 60 is the right number of games for the season, so I'd be great with that! With more b2b it might be simpler with the goalies. set out at the beginning of, or periodically during, the season based on schedule which games smith is going to start. If he's lights out, or Kosko gets hurt you might change the plan. It might reduce the competition a bit, but I think everyone understands that it's not really a competition. Will be fascinating to see how the schedule, alignment, works out. The states is a complete mess in several ways so there's a lot to figure out.

When you consider the amount of minutes played by Drai and McD, perhaps a shortened season they would still be fresh for the playoffs.
