Leanstrom has been recalled.
Big minutes on our top 4, klef, bear, lag, Koo injured or out. Koo is the collar bone and will be out long term.
These injuries are really pushing our depth now. It's not just one or two guys. Jones needs to play better then we have Lennstrom as our number 7 now. All of this while pushing our top 4 too hard

All of this while pushing our top 4 too hard The biggest problem now is we finally seem to have have pairs that are working so do you risk making a pair of Bouchard and Jones? Nurse and Larsson can't keep playing 30 and 24 minutes a night respectively so you need a 3rd pairing you can trust but I don't really like the idea of breaking up the top two pairings.

I'd try
Nurse-Barrie Jones-Larsson Russell-Bouchard
Lennstrom switches with Jones?

I'd try Nurse-Barrie Jones-Larsson Russell-Bouchard Lennstrom switches with Jones? I do believe Lennstrom is a natural right D. Not sure though. Bouchard has been playing Left D in practice a lot, and in game when a D goes down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Klef, Laggeson, Bear, Koekoek.
Why is Tipp carrying 9 d-men? they wondered. To think that only 3 years ago we had virtually 0 depth on defense and were icing an AHL squad in NHL jersey's. How times change.

Bear and Lag are back skating today. I'll take that as very good news. Way too many guys out on the IR. Jones will probably come in and he better play well or the pressure to take his spot from the other two will mount. Let's see if Jones can rise to the occasion.

I don’t think they don’t like him. I think it’s more of seeing that we can win without Bear, so let’s see if we can use him to fill other holes.

Bear regardless of the score in the game plays the same.. that is a quality not seen in many players.

I don’t want him traded, but I’m also not opposed to trading anyone if it makes us better.

This is a year I see as a building year internally for the Oilers. I don't think we are ready to make any big trades at the moment. The only trades I would make would be Nuge, Barrie or Larsson because they are UFA's going into next season. Nuge I would not trade unless we cannot sign him to a salary that fits our team budget.
I would prefer to ride out the year if Nuge signs. Barrie I would like to sign if he is agreeable and continues to impress on D. Our team is gelling at the moment and I would like to see that continue to at least the trade deadline. Maybe tinker a bit if Holland can perform his magic again, but our team is looking pretty good right now. I'm hoping internally that we could fill holes with guys already in our system for the most part. Next year is when things will start looking better for our trade options.

Barrie has really started to fit in and it seems to get better with every game. I really like How Larsson has upped his game...he looks like the Larsson of 2017. I suppose management will have a better read on things as we get close to the deadline.. I just hope the player's continue to build what they have done recently. I agree next year Holland will have options he has not had since he arrived.

I thought Bear looked better last night, after struggling in his return. Hoping he keeps trending that way.
Barrie 2nd in scoring amongst dmen with 30p.
Nurse is 7th with 25p (21p at even strength). He's 2nd in goals with 10. And a whopping +21. I know it's a bogus stat, but with his 25+ minutes a night, it's impressive. Earning every damn bit of his $5.6m, and Barrie has been like a winning lotto ticket.
Larsson playing well again. Great defense and 7p in 34gp, tops his 6p in 49gp from last year.
Despite tough breaks to Koekkoek and Bear, as a group the defense has been better than I expected considering the Klefbom absence.
