Yeah but only by a season and Klef is the same age Petry was when Petry was ran out of Edmonton. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Also I don't think Petry has had nearly the injury trouble that Klefbom has, and he played on an oilers roster that was nowhere near as talented as the one Klef plays on. Maybe it's just the eye test, I dunno... but I just don't see Klefbom as being even close to the D-man that Petry is. are you kidding? I agree with you and I'm just pulling your leg...lol. Petry is so consistent at both ends, he would be incredible on our roster.

No way is Jones a top 4 Dman right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Jones didn't impress me this year or last. He's ok, but he's not currently top4 Frankly, Lagesson has made more of an impression on me. He only plays defense, but he does it pretty darn well. Agreed, I've also liked Koekkoek. But more my question was is there a chance of seeing some movement in a the next couple of weeks? And who are we protecting in the expansion draft, especially if Klefbom is done?

It seems to me that KH is handcuffed until he knows what Klef's timeline will be. Having said that, we do have a welcome problem on the depth chart. I was really worried when Bear got hurt, but there wasn't a drastic dropoff that I was expecting. I don't want to give up the depth, but it could be a tool we could use to strengthen at another position.

Broberg and Bouchard coming. This guy will bring a decent tender to Edmonton.

I do worry about how little of B&B is proven, while Bear has proved to be a good pairing with Nurse. What kind of keeper do you think we could get for Bear?

If he keeps performing well, he’s gonna get a big raise on the open market. If he isn’t in our long term plans, then we have Bouch and Larsson on the right side. Not sure if Bear is as expendable as you think. We’re deep on the left. Nurse, Klef, Broberg, Jones, Lagesson, Russell, Koekkoek. After Bouch, on the right I think is that Swede we signed Lennstrom (who hasn’t played an NHL game yet). Sure we can get someone to play on their off hand, but they’re most effective when they play their natural side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also Samurokov on the left I'm hoping he can play both, and that him playing the right in the KHL translates to the NHL. He played exclusively on the left in Bakersfield last year. Also, his even strength in the K is on the left (from the couple games I’ve checked out). From what I saw, he played on the Right on the PP. Might have just been the couple games I saw. What do you guys think of the defense now?
If someone had told me both klef and bear were out of the lineup for a long time it would be a scary thought. We lose our number one d on a team where defense is a weakness. Jones didn't step in. Leanstrom hasn't seen a game. Sam, Bromberg and others still in the pipeline. Still we have depth at defence. Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed I think we'll see another call up, hopefully Lagesson and Koekkoek arent out for too long. I think now the goalie issue has worked it's self out, the defense has more or less settled in.

We lose our number one d on a team where defense is a weakness. Jones didn't step in. Leanstrom hasn't seen a game. Sam, Bromberg and others still in the pipeline. Still we have depth at defence. Fingers crossed The last few games I have been very happy with our defense. At this moment I see our defense as a good NHL defense corps. They are not a great D squad, but they are much improved. There is no longer the defensive break downs that we were seeing consistently every game. Now we are seeing the puck transitioned out of our end much quicker. Our offensive forwards are able to concentrate more on offense and not needing to play defense as much. The fact that we are seeing points from the backend more is a great addition to our chances of winning games. Nurse has finally taken the steps to be a true #1 defender, he's not elite yet and maybe he never will be but he is still improving. Having Nurse as a true #1 is good enough for me at the moment, even though I am hoping for more someday. I believe we are still missing Bear but he should be back soon I hope. Barrie has struggled at times but he is looking much better than I thought he would. He's very mobile and has a nice shot. He seems to still be building his defensive game and is getting better, but when he hesitates he seems to get himself into trouble. I noticed this more when he was struggling, now not so much. Larsson has been better but he still seems to struggle to get the puck out of our end a lot. He has seemed to be trying more lately that I have noticed, but it being a contract year is a little troubling to me. I have liked the addition of Koekkoek (still having trouble with his name), too bad he was injured and I hope it's not bad. Bouchard has been fun for me to watch, he's doing a good job so far in a sheltered role. He has been given a few tests and tougher assignments that he's done well at and it seems that he will gradually climb the depth chart. Russell has been playing pretty stable defense, he's not in our long term plans but he is pulling his weight for the time being.

Koekkoek broken collar bone so he will be out a while. Haven't seen an update on Lagesson.
