does anybody remember when so many people wanted us to trade RNH to Colorado for Barrie? yikes. I remember but even at that time I was against it. I always felt Barrie was overrated. I’m not trying to say I was right or anything like that. I would like Barrie to prove me wrong to be honest. dont really remember that thread but RNH needs to bring more than Barrie back if we trade him or we will keep going backwards.

It was on the old site so I can’t recall the exact conversations but yes we do need a hell of a lot more for RNH then that.

Yup it was a good discussion for sure. You've made me take a closer look and by the numbers Klefbom and Petry pretty much track the same, I'm undervaluing Klefbom I'm sure. When all is said and done though he is our current best defenseman and we need him back dearly I just don’t wanna see him go elsewhere and become Petry 2.0. It all depends on how his surgery and recovery goes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk IMO Petry has only really taken off since Weber arrived in Habland (why i keep pushing for us to try and nab a mentor for our future d-corp). Before that he showed a lot of the inconsistencies he did while here, although even that version of Petry would be better than anyone we have right now

I'm googling around, trying to find if any site tracks own-goals. There cannot be another team that scores more goals on itself than the Oilers. It's so common, it's atrocious.

Whilst you are in the mood fogs, perhaps see if there is any team who gives up more breakaways with our goalie facing one or more of the opponents players descending upon him with yet no sign of an Oiler player on the TV screen. . And also, is there an NHL defender who actually finds a team mate with a pass less times than Kris Russell? Or a goalie that is beaten on the high glove side more often than Koskinen? I know you won't mind doing this research for me..... ..........however, I think the answer to all three would be a resounding NO! No team, no defender and certainly no goalie.

Kris Russell is so bad with the puck. It's amazing.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 11 points so far, and 8 of them are 5v5. Great production.

Nurse has been lucky on 3 of his 6 goals but we will take them. He is playing steady do, that's what matters
D looking good. It might be a blessing that Jones didn't step up. Now it's going to be harder for him to get back in. Some real competition

Sportsnet Stats @snstats · 3h #Oilers lead the NHL with 13 goals from defencemen It is great to see some offence from the back end but we need to slow down a little and remember the Oilers have played more games than most teams. We shall see at the end of the season. Still, this is better than recent years.

We shall see at the end of the season. Still, this is better than recent years. That "more games than most teams" is a two edged sword so to speak. Our players must be if not exhausted, certainly looking forwards to a four day break now as when last night's game finished, the Oilers had played 16 games in 30 days. Add the travel back and forth across the 2nd biggest country in the world a couple or more times, and think about how physically draining it must be. And seven of those games have been against the currently two best teams in the Canadian/North division. 9 and 7 is to me a pretty good start, and I can't believe how many goals are being scored by our defence.........but I like it. .

If Nurse can prove wrong the initial skepticism that I expressed in the OP of this thread, no one would be more elated than myself.

I don't mean to pile on, but this is what I mean when I say that the biggest influence for icetime is how each player effects the production of 97&29.

No way is Jones a top 4 Dman right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Jones didn't impress me this year or last. He's ok, but he's not currently top4 Frankly, Lagesson has made more of an impression on me. He only plays defense, but he does it pretty darn well.
