So here we are with 3 days off, then 6 games in 9 days, 5 in 7. Yikes. Know we want to win the division but don't want out guys worn out. They are saying after the TDL that we can exceed the 23 man roster and since we have 226k we can call up guys and their cap hit does not apply, only the few remaining days left in the season. Example, calling up a player costs the team 50-60k. Then you can call up 3-4 guys easily. Holloway, Gags, Broberg and JC/Rogrgue or ? Would like our stars to play 4 out of the remaining 6 games. Going to need some load management. What do you guys think. Have not confirmed the above but it is a nice loophole. I think that our stars want to play every game. Conner still has a shot at the scoring title and the team still has a shot at winning the division. I don't see the top guys sitting. Maybe a couple of the bottom 6 but Carrick isn't even seeing as much ice as he could. I am curious what happened with Perry and Kane on Saturday vs the Flamers. Perry was clearly hot and both guys appeared to have been benched to finish the game. Infighting is never a good thing. I think that there are a few guys on the Condors that deserve a call up but it won't be to rest the top guys as long as they are playing for something. My thoughts as well. For sure Connor wants to play! Earlier in season both KH and coach KK have said Broberg and Holloway will see some games before the season is through. We'll see if this remains to be true though. They are both excelling in the AHL right now but Kenny likes to overgroom so they may just stay put there... for now. Just in case they do see some playoff games (ie: injuries happen - knock on wood) it might be a good idea for them to get some regular season games in with the big club.

Interesting loophole i didn't know about, I thought they couldnt bring guys up until reg season ended? If this is the case, i can see them bringing up guys early and although i dont think there's any way the "stars" will be sat, there are at least 3 potentially "Easy" games where they could adopt load management and keep them down to 15mins or less in those games and still allow them to "pad" their stats and go for the div title? I think it will depend on how the games play out? If oilers can get a 3 goal lead or something early enough, then it makes sense to rest them. That's how I'd play it and of course roll them out for the PP's as we need that to be and stay sharp for the playoffs. This is what they are saying. We have some cap space which is why we can. We can only have a 20 man roster to play the games though. But after the TDL there is no 23 man roster limit, so we can call up 3-4 guys to play the easier games and give some players some rest. We would all like a div title, would be the 1st in over 30 years. Have to look at the schedule though, it is brutal. I don't think McD cares about the scoring title, as long as he gets 100 assists he will be happy. 1 more assist to go, then he will be one of 4 players in history to do so. Drai already got his 40 goals, Hyman 50+ so think it's about winning now. 5 games in 7 days then 1 or 2 days off max (not 3 or 4 as projected) does not allow for any rest at all. That's the problem. I definitely think they should call up guys to play in the easier games. I do think McD cares a little about the Art Ross, hence why i think he will try to pile on pts in the "3 easy games", but having home ice for the first few rounds would be more important and as long as they have no issues, I think those guys will stay in the line up, unless div title is no longer a possibility. if that's the case then yeah i can see them sitting out a few games if div title gets outta reach quickly

Interesting signing by VGK. Doing the maths in my head this works out to $7.32M cap? In many regards i see Hanafin as very similar to bouchard? Both elite offensively but not necessarily elite defensively? I'm sure some oiler fans will immediately be offended by this comparison but IMO, they are quite comparable in a lot of ways? Bouch is having an exceptional season this year but I would imagine if Hanafin was paired 90% of time with McDrai and EK and was the #1 PP QB his numbers would be pretty gaudy too! If we could get Bouch on a similar deal to this, or say $8M for the "EDM tax", then I'd probably say that would be reasonable under the circumstances www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/golden-knights-sign-noah-hanifin-to-eight-year-58-8m-contract-extension/

I know I'm shocked he's back, haha. Indeed Go Blues, Go Preds, Go Wild tonight! But most importantly GO OILERS GO!! WooHoo Gameday!! Coyotes have been no slouches lately and can beat any team if they're not prepared. Kinda feel for their players with the gong-show surrounding their organization/ownership situation the last few years, not to mention playing in Mullet Arena lol, but hopefully they'll settle nicely into a new home in Salt Lake City or wherever. No McD again tonight, I expect he'll be back tomorrow. Ceci out, Stecher in. Picks between the pipes. Play hard boyzzz, save enough juice for tomorrow, but make sure to get the W tonight! It's crucial to the plot, lol. GOG!! edit)oops, thought I was in the GDT thread, oh well.

Thanks for posting that link Windsor, I was looking for the contract amount that you were talking about and couldn't find it, but I found that interview with Desharnais and Jason Gregor and that was a great interview! The interview was longer than I normally like to listen to, but it was a great interview about how he worked up the levels and very interesting about Paul Coffey's impact and his insight into the game. That interview reinforced everything that I already knew about Vinny and showed me what a great influence Coffey has been to the defensemen and to the whole team actually. I have to say it again, GREAT INTERVIEW!!

I have to say it again, GREAT INTERVIEW!! It was discussed recently, Nick Seeler is a comparable that just signed for 2.7 mil for 5 years. If Desharnais signs for 1.25 to 1.5 that would be great. Can see why he would want more though.
