— Dave Tippett split up McDavid and Leon Draisaitl last night, and could do that again tonight. Let’s assume he does. Here are the Oilers career goals by line.
Hyman (89) – McDavid (201) – Puljujarvi (34) RNH (185) – Draisaitl (201) – Yamamoto (20) Foegele (36) – Ryan (54) – Kassian (86) Perlini (46) – Shore (44) – Turris (167)
Turris isn’t the scorer he once was, but Puljujarvi counters that as he is on the upswing.
— Now look at Vegas’ lineup with three of their best forwards.
Marchessault (131) – Karlsson (115) – Smith (158) Krebs (0) – Stephenson (38) – Roy (11) Dadonov (104) – Patrick (30) – Kolesar (3) Carrier (27) – Leschyshyn (0) – Howden (16)
They have one legit scoring line. Their second-fourth lines have a total of 229 goals with Dadonov proving 104 of them. Devin Shore has more career goals than eight of Vegas’ forwards.
— Vegas has a solid D core with Alex Pietrangelo, Shea Theodore, Alex Martinez, Brayden McNabb, Nicolas Hague, Zack Whitecloud and Dylan Coghlan, along with Robin Lehner in goal, but tonight’s roster is not close to the dominant Vegas teams of the past. Even with Edmonton playing last night, this is a very winnable game. Vegas head coach Pete Deboer switched his D pairs in practice yesterday and had Hague-Pietrangelo, Theodore-Whitecloud and McNabb-Coghlan. Martinez didn’t practice yesterday and is doubtful for tonight, so even their blueline isn’t at full strength.

Once a knight always a Knight! Twice a knight(B2B), maybe too much for this team, we'll see :-)

Thx for posting them numbers windsor and I like your analysis, I love numbers too. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Martinez, got him in my pools harhar. Bigger game for the Knights then us imo but I think we'll come to play as well and snag the 2 pts. Could be in extra time. Should be a gooder. Koskinen gets the net again.
GO OILERS GO!!

Face off percentage to me is an under rated statistic that can affect the end result of a game. Whilst on the subject of face off's, maybe my memory is going, but last night was the first time that I recall since I have been watching Oiler games (almost 30 years) that we took a penalty for two face off misdemeanors. Am I losing my memory, or does this sound about right? Maybe I went for a bathroom break or to get a beer out of the fridge in the past, and hence missed a similar incident, but other than that, I don't recall any similar incident(s). GO OILERS GO!!

chalk up another one!
I am in the rather dubious position of being very close to finally getting a prediction right in the 7 game prediction thread! Only problem is, we need a loss and an overtime loss in these next two games for it to happen.
So of course I am hoping like crazy I was wrong lol!

HooWee this team is fun to watch! 24 goals in 5 games, gotta like that. Philadelphia up next and they like like to score goals too, 16 in 3 games and they are currently 2-0-1. Probably be a 1-0 game in a shootout haha. Stinks we have to wait until Wednesday to play next but this gives the team a chance for a lil break after the back-to-back and allows Smith more time to heal up. It's a nice reassuring feeling to have both tenders playing well early in the season. Outstanding work so far, keep it up boys!! GOG!!

Interesting--Benson played 7:49 last night and I never noticed him once or heard his name called.
I think that's a good sign.

Interesting--Benson played 7:49 last night and I never noticed him once or heard his name called. I think that's a good sign. I actually caught sight of him a couple of times battling for the puck and there was a rush he was involved in with Sceviour that went deep into the knight's zone that I noticed in the third. The times I noticed him he was doing alright. I remember because I was thinking that we were winning with both sets of fringe players and that both sets looked decent. I remember thinking this is a very good situation and hoping we finish the game in the win column for this set of fringe players.

Yammo looked better last night finally. Not sure if he has a point yet but he needs to be a mini Hyman to be most effective. That's the Yammo we need.

I noticed benson and Sceviour last night more then I have the other 4 th liners. They actually had scoring chances last night. Some of that I guess is that a few games the 4th line barely got on the ice.

My hope is that the rest of the forwards see the success that Hyman and JP are having around the net, and follow suit. Nuge and Yam aren't really built for it, but we need traffic around the goalies.

MY point was when Yammo had success he was doing what Hyman is. Just being relentless.
My critique for the game is the shots against once again.
And the big one being Ryan being 2-8 on the dot. Resulting in 2 goals against. Think Ryan is above 50% on the dot but he has been losing some key draws. Hopefully this improves.

Agreed shots against has been an issue. First 5 games they've been 38, 47, 36, 28, 39 and that 28 was vs the lowly desert dawgs. This is probably my biggest concern with the team but hey 5 wins, hard to complain haha. Faceoffs we've actually been pretty good at collectively at 56.2%, good for third overall. Shore (69%) Leon (65), Hyman (64), Ryan (59), Turris (57), McDavid (52) McLeod (50), and then our weak links RNH (38%), Foegele (37%). One would think after a decade in the league Nuge would start to figure it out but nope lol. Two seasons ago he was 51%, other then that never above 50% and lifetime NHL is 44.3%. Thankfully we have others now (depth) we don't really need to have RNH taking draws, or Foegele for that matter. The rest of the boys are killing it on the dot so far.
