All of the above is also part of the reason we have not had very many PP’s along with reffing

Kassian in, Smith in. Last chance gasp before recalling Skinner. McD is out, Matthews in.

This one will be fugly. I mean, Toronto owns us and pounds us when we are healthy and playing well. Tonight - Matthews could break Darryl Sittlers record (and yes, I'm old enough to have watched that game lol) of 6 goals and 4 assists in one game. I have zero faith in Smith - (he was terrible in his last start). I'm not sure why some folks love him, or why Tipp does. Even in the playoff series last year all three OT goals against him were very weak. Especially Statny's goals - he is not a shooter, Smith should have had it. I just wish Connor Bedard was eligible in this years draft as we will be in the lottery if we do not get a real goalie.

It could well get fugly but i hope players will circle the wagons with McD out and make a fight of it, however to do that smith has to bring his A-game. If Smith lays another Ostrich-sized egg, the irony of Kosk coming in to relieve him will not be lost on me, but really hope Smitty finds the fountain of youth again tonight

What can you do.
1st two goals by the lucky Leafs not even on net. Off the boards, off Smith and in. Second, going wide double deflection off of Bouch then Nurse and in. Empty netter puck hops perfectly over Bouch's stick and in.
Campbell with a luck save as Mcleod tried to pass instead of shoot, still lucky. Smith continues his .900 save % and it's not quite good enough once again. We need to score 3 goals + but can't get it done lately.

Accurate summary, I just don’t quite believe that luck is just a random happenstance. Good hardworking teams seem to get more lucky bounces. We worked hard tonight so maybe we’re not that good? We certainly made some unbelievably stupid errors and those definitely influenced the final outcome also and good teams rarely make stupid mistakes and definitely not in the quantity we do

We certainly made some unbelievably stupid errors and those definitely influenced the final outcome also and good teams rarely make stupid mistakes and definitely not in the quantity we do A lack of confidence maybe as well (over not being that good). Calgary, Toronto, etc have all had their players in protocol at once. They have their shutdown, the whole team comes out of their pause healthy and ready to go. For us, Habs, Sens it's 2-3 guys out at once, ongoing, never ending. It must wear on the team. Leafs hard to lose much with Campbell's .930+ save % which was the same case for Koss very early on when we would do nothing but win. Since when does a shot going wide hit the boards and angle perfectly off the goalie's pads and in? That sums up our puck luck right now and it's not the players or the coaches fault. I cannot stress enough how C can be hard on some teams more than others. As C goes more rampant there is a trend with the team not doing as well. As C goes away the team plays better. Just like C is harder on some fam/friends/marriages more than others. Not trying to make excuses for the team but life is not easy right now.

hey all, coming from out of town for the game scheduled against the Flamers on the 22 of jan. does anyone know if this game is going on? half capacity still? As of now, our next scheduled game is Ottawa on the 15th. The game against the Jets on the 16th is already postponed. Capacity limits are still in place now, but when that changes is anybody's guess.

hey all, coming from out of town for the game scheduled against the Flamers on the 22 of jan. does anyone know if this game is going on? half capacity still? The game is still on but with limited capacity and all Covid restrictions in place (ie. proof of vaccinations, masks etc). As far as tickets go to the Oiler website and bring up tickets. There are still some available. Of course everything could change by then. Not sure about if the ticket is purchased but the game gets postponed, and you're from out of town, what then??

Last night Elliot Freidman said he thinks the league has given teams a date of Jan 18th and that after that they are playing regardless of the situation so they can get all the games in. Take it for what you will.

GAME DAY WOOTWOOT!! 10 days since we played last. Play tonight then not again until the 20th... hopefully. Strange days. Meh. I for one can't wait to see our boys back on the ice. A much needed win to keep the peace in Oilerville, a loss will just not do tonight. I think we come out a little slow (haha shocker) especially with the long break but find our gears and turn it on. Skinner gets the start. McDrai combine for 7 pts on the night as the home team lights the lamp plenty in a 6-2 Oilers win! GO OILERS GO!!

Take it for what you will. I was wondering if the league would move the trade deadline back? Or, are we planning to be caught up by then? With no Olympics, maybe we'll be caught up....

I don't know what to expect but I'm looking forward to Oilers hockey! The Sens convincingly won a gritty road game against the Flames on Thursday, so they'll be game ready. We freakin better be too. If ever there was a time for a hot start to a game, this is it.
