I gotta ask, did anyone watch game 7 Leafs elimination game last night? I watched for a while in the 2nd period, the refs were letting everything go, I found the game a bit slower than watching the Oilers. I tuned back in, in the 3rd period and watched a few minutes, the refs were not calling any penalties at all (it was ridicules the calls they were letting go). When I first tuned into the 3rd period, I saw a trip/judo takedown and thought "there's a penalty", but nothing. Then I thought, "well maybe it wasn't as bad as it first looked" because they let it go and maybe I just assumed it was bad. Later on the play that the Leafs score, a Bruin has the puck skating out of the D zone and gets tripped losing possession and the Leafs pounce on the puck and tick tack toe it's in the net. The only problem was that the play should have been blown dead because of the trip and the scoring play nullified. Later a Bruin had possession and just entered the Leaf zone when he was tripped and almost went completely down when the biased announcer said " the Bruin player is stumbling around". Yeah, he stumbled after the Leaf player had a stick at his skates! Anyway, after the Leaf's goal it seemed to energize the Bruins. That playoff experience that the Bruin vets had kicked in when they realized they could be eliminated and gave them an extra step, a little extra jump and they seemed to take the game over scoring soon after. They went into OT and the rest you know already.
Did anyone watching the game see the same thing? I didn't rewind any of the plays to see for sure about the trips and I did want the Bruins to win, but I don't think I was so biased as to see trips that were not there. At any rate after the Leafs scored on the play that I thought should have blown dead, I thought to myself, this is one of those plays that feels like the hockey gods are watching and will make things right. The Bruins won in OT, so maybe they did. Whatever happened, it woke the Bruins up after that goal and they went to work and took care of business.

All my predictions look good so far, Vegas is surprising me because Dallas looked strong defensively. I guess you can't rule out Vegas winning because of their playoff experience. Yup you're looking good. Only 1 sweep this year in the first round IF NYR wins today. That's good, I don't want any teams getting any more rest then us, haha. Go Preds. I think I'd prefer Nash over Van in rnd 2 should we beat LA, though I'm confident we would beat both, obviously we seem to match up better vs Nash. You could go 8-0 Flo, that'd be impressive! Well since the 2nd round has begun before the 1st round has ended, I'll make some predictions with the assumption Dallas wins game 7. Avs beat Stars Oil beat Canucks Rangers beat Canes Florida beat Bruins

The obvious trip that led to the leafs goal was as egregious a non-call as I've seen in the playoffs, but there were other terrible calls on the opposite side as well, although not quite as bad or as impactful as that one could have been? I didn't hate the reffing in the oilers LA series so I hope we get the same crews. They also let a lot of things go, but called the truly obvious stuff and their pet calls of hooking and tripping. Maybe the hockey gods intervened, but to me TO's luck just ran out. they say it all evens out in the end and IMO in the end that's what happened. I dont think either leafs or Bruins have enough to take on FLA anyway so I think it all becomes moot in the end? But that's why you play the games, sometimes the hockey gods like to extend their sense of humour for a bit longer than we can bare sometimes and upsets can still happen!

So far the results have gone exactly to form so if that's the case and the stars do win then the only "technical upset" would be Avs, but then technically Avs pounding Jets "was an upset", but really IYKYK! That wasnt an upset and Avs beating Stars wont be either

I only call them as I see them and the qualifications of playoff experience, leadership, defense, offense, and also whether their previous round was a longer series or not. If the Oilers took longer to knock off the Kings I would have chosen the Canucks.

I should also add that if the Oilers didn't get Perry, I would rate the Oilers a lower playoff success, he has tilted much of my view of the Oil in the playoffs.

good riddance Vegas. Next year they should spend their time building a better roster rather than using LTIR to build a bigger one

One thing really noticeable about payoff hockey and was on full display last night is; you can never count a team out and you simply can't allow a team you've outplayed, to hang around, cos it'll bite you big time. Oilers have a tendency to ease off the gas if they get a 2-3 goal lead- they simply cant do that in the playoffs - As the preds found out to their cost, they outplayed nucks for large stretches and had quite a few leads, but they let them hang around and ended up losing crucial games they should've won. We need the "killer extinct" on full display from here on in!! GOG!!
