Game Management Opportunity is the new method by NHL officials. Penalties are not really penalties, but some are if the ref decides to call it. The rule book is a convenient tool to be used if needed.

This thread is to discuss special teams and to trash talk the officiating standards of the NHL I could fill 60 pages with GMO against oilers but its not really worth it. i will give last night as a simple example though. Preds having given up 7pp to nucks and 6 to flames and overall 2x as many as they received, suddenly become a team of mother teresa's giving up only 2 to the oilers, while those same Jasper ave bullies, inflicted 2x the egregious penalties on those unsuspecting preds? And if you want real irony, last night i thought the refs weren't even that bad  most of the penalties called on oil were ones that could be called in any given game (1-2 a little soft). The problem is, for oil to get a PP, it has to be so obvious, the refs would be morally ashamed to ignore like the obv trip on Drai. simple truth is none of the 4 pp preds earned last night would have been called if the roles were reversed and an oiler was on receiving end. The problem is, the only solution is for the oiler pp to start sucking so the refs dont feel like they're giving us an automatic goal if they call them, but then whats the point of it all? and therein lies the rub, more and more i watch, the more and more i ask myself, "What's the point of it all"? The answer i came up with so far is quite disturbing and makes me not want to watch because like WWF, in the end the results are all fake!

nucks had another 6PP last night (3rd time already this season). what are the odds we'll get 1 game with 6pp this season? I say slim and none! Not that i'm counting or anything!

Official NHL stats as of today Canucks rank 3'd overall in opponent PIM assesed at 148 Flames rank 11'th overall in opponent PIM assessed at 108 Oilers rank 31'st overall in opponent PIM assessed at 71. Only the Bruins have fewer, at 69.

Is GMO coming into play on Pasta, Bergeron and Marchand too? Flocking Redonculous!
