Remember when there was a serious debate on the ol' OMB about whether we should take Bennett over Drai? Not that Bennett is a bad player at all, but oh boy ... and every flames fan on planet Earth boasted about how we pooched the bed on another pick and gifted them Bennett. Ah fun times. wow...yeah, I'd forgotten about that, but imagine the regret!! God...the thought of Drai in a fLames jersey makes me gag. I'm just enjoying watching him play. His vision and passing have always been good, but this year he's continued to improve. His defensive game is looking more polished this year. Looks like he's taking a bit of a vocal role on the ice and bench. Real leadership.

The Oilers pooched the bed in picking Pululjarvi and Calgary picking up Tkachuck. It wasn't so obvious to people then.
Yes, players need to have a good dressing room and leadership to pull everyone together.
Jankowski wants out? Never heard that one. Bennett wants out? New one to me also. They're both very good players on the bubble of top 6. So far it's been a good job by Tre to keep them and give Calgary 4 lines.
Having a fan base with little expectation of their team is a motivator to the players. It's far better than having a fan base with high expectations and not meeting them, makes players grip their stick a bit too tightly.
This season is very similar to the playoffs last year. Many good teams at the bottom of the standings with many teams that weren't expected to win much at the top. Maybe Edmonton is the new St. Louis?

You are a tad bitter for being right after an Edmonton loss don't you think Read the post again. nobody said Janko or Bennet want out. I said they LOOK like they do. Did we pooch the bed with JP or did he just not fit? we will know if and when he is traded and how he performs with his new team. I'm feeling that you are right though, that the Oilers pooched the bed. Probably why all the teams before us passed on him.

Vancouver fans are even more upset about not selecting Tkachuck. LOL At the time I was hyped about Laine and of course Matthews, but I'm extremely happy with how it turned out.

In his 800th NHL game, Michael Frolik scored the opening goal in the Flames 3 - 1 win over Philadelphia. He has scored 154 goals + 217 assists = 371 points during his career.

Impressed with the Flames vs Detroit tonight. More emotion, good balanced play, and good discipline. Riitch had a very good game. Tkachuck despite only getting an assist drew penalties with his strong puck possession play. Gio was a Norris defenseman tonight like he usually is. Lucic gets first assist and played well, got 2nd PP time as a result. Flames are turning it around.

I suspect he was kept out of the rest of the game as a precautionary measure. I haven't heard anything further on his status, so I'd assume he's good to go tonight. 420 is the one to ask on these things, he'll probably post something before the game.

Looks like Talbot is wearing off on Rittich as he let in the first shot of the game.

In my opinion it was a soft play by Hanifin on the puck carrier. I don't know what he was attempting to do there. Shot close in, I can't blame Riitch. I'm normally fine with Hanifin defensively. Hanifin, in my opinion, needs to work on his shot and getting his shots through, I think he can develop it more. He's usually a very reliable defenseman.
