I've been doubtful about Yam, but if he were to prove me wrong I wouldn't be against it. At the time he was picked I was afraid the Oilers just wasted a pick on a guy that the chances were against him making it to the NHL. He seems to have all kinds of skill, but he's just so small. I'll be in his corner because we can use all the weapons we can get our hands on. I hope he has a good year in the AHL and we'll see how he does from there. This is a big year for him because if he doesn't perform he might not get many more chances to show his stuff.

Condors were down 2-0 and managed to force overtime but ultimately fell to the Reign 3-2 last night. Once again it was Yam and Currie to score for Bakersfield (1-0-1). Other then those two players, nobody else has found the back of the net in the first two games. Skinner got the start for this one, stopping 22 of 25. Next up, San Jose Barracuda on Sunday the 13th.

Oh I've been around here tea, just a little less these days, things should slow down for me soon here I'm hoping. Anywho, the Condors lost to the Barracuda 4-3 on Sunday but then handed the Heat their first loss with a 6-2 win on Tuesday. Gags scored twice in that one and Yam has found the back of the net in all 4 games for Bakersfield. The team is 2-1-1 so far with Yam leading the way with 4g, 1a and Malone with 5 helpers. The strange schedule continues for the Condors while they face the Heat 4 of 5 games, second game being tonight. Between their wonky schedule and the big club's hot start to the season I find myself paying a little less attention to the Condors this season, spose that's a good thing, ha. GO CONDORS GO!!

Condors finished a back-to-back with the Heat (6-1-1) yesterday losing 6-3 at home after winning 3-2 in the shootout on the road Friday. Bakersfield is now 3-4-1 (4 games vs Stockton?).
In the short season so far Gamba leads the way offensively with 3g 3a and Malone 1g 5a both having played 6 games. Currie and Yamamoto both have 4g 1a in 7 gms meanwhile Benson has 5 helpers but is still looking for his first goal of the season. On Defense Jones has 1g 3a, Bouch 2g 1a. Wells has the best save % in net at .929 in a modest 2 games. Skinner and Starrett are both under .900 in the other starts.
Next up is the Barracuda (SJ) on Weds, Oct 30th followed by back-to-back games vs the Reign (LA) on the weekend. All games on the road.
Go Condors!

Condors got spanked 5-0 at home to the Barracuda (SJ) on Wednesday. Ouch. Quickly moving on haha, the team responded with a 3-2 OT win vs the Reign (LA) in Ontario last night. Ontario, California that is. That's right, there is a city in California called Ontario, bet most of ya didn't know that, or did ya? Lagesson scored in his return to the farm playing in only his 3rd game of the season (why was he called up and not used on the big club?). Bouchard had a couple assists. Currie scored his 5th of the season while Malone potted the winner in OT. Skinner (3-1-1) got the win stopping 26 of 28. I'm not sure, perhaps he's injured but Gambardella was a scratch for the 2nd game in a row. As you've probably heard Colby Cave has been re-called by the Oilers. Condors and Reign rematch today again in California. Off to a bit of a sluggish start to the season, Bakersfield sits at 4-5-1 after 10 games.

Condors defeated the Reign again in the second game of their back-to-backs by a 4-1 score. Skinner was a rock, stopping 42/43 unfortunately losing his SO bid with 90 seconds to go. Benson scored his 1st and 2nd of the season and now leads the team in scoring with 2g, 7a through 11 games. Esposito and Bouchard also scored. Shots were 43-40 Reign, Condor special teams were solid PP 2/5, PK 0/4.
Bakersfield is now 5-5-1 on the season and return home to face the Gulls on Friday and Barracuda Saturday.

Just seeing this prospect update and thanx SD, good to keep up on the youngsters. Our mini Oilers fell to the Gulls last night 5-3. Down 2-0 in the first period then came back to end the period up 3-2 but that was it for offense (for us) on the night. The positives for me are that Cave scored and seems to have a bit of scoring prowess about him lately (scored on his call-up too), and also Hebig got on the board as well as Max picked up a couple assists. Would love to see the latter two putting up more numbers but it may be a question of ice-time and line-mates so I will try not to judge too much that I don't know enough about. Anybody know why Gambardella continues to be a scratch? The Condors could surely use him, fighting the good fight they sit at 5-6-1 and just lost to a team they should beat. Up next is SJ Barracuda tonight.

Thanks for the continued updates Hap, you do a fine job.

Condors are now 6-6-1 after defeating the Barracuda 6-3 last night. It was a big night for Tyler Benson as he recorded a hat trick and an assist meanwhile line-mate Brad Malone had a goal and three assists. Currie and Cave also scored for Bakersfield and Jurco playing in his first game as a Condor picked up two assists. Special teams played well going 3/7 PP and 1/6 on the PK. Skinner now 5-2-1 got the start stopping 19 of 22. Notable Condors scratches: Gambardella, Marody, Samorukov, Hebig amongst others.
Bakersfield does not play again until next Fri/Sat(15/16th) where they'll face the Colorado Eagles(6-6-0) for back-to-back road games. The team currently sits 4th in the Pacific division.

Any word on how Samoroukov is doing? I see he's only got one point so far, but that doesn't tell the story for dman making the jump to his first pro league.

Not really sure but with having several solid D prospects down there I suspect he's playing on the 3rd pairing not getting a ton of minutes - only so many prime minutes to go around I guess, and there are others ahead of him atm. He's missed the last 2 games I'm assuming because of injury but I can't seem to find any recent info on him. On another note Caleb Jones is sitting in 2nd in Dman scoring in the A with 2g,8a through 13 games.

Hope the injury isn't serious and recovery is quick.

Condors (7-7-1) had a pair of games on the weekend vs the Colorado Eagles... Friday night they fell 3-0 to the home team but Saturday they responded with a 3-2 come from behind victory, also on the road. Down late in the 2nd period the Condors got quick goals from Currie and Jurco to tie the game headed into the 3rd period where Jurco scored his 2nd of the night being the game-winner. It was Jurco's first 2 goals as a Condor. Bouchard had a pair of assists in the game. Goalie Skinner, who has become the Condors #1 starter it would appear, stopped 29/31 on the eve and is now 6-3-1 on the season. Special teams were busy going 2/6 PP and 1/8 PK including stopping a 5-3 in the 3rd.
Up next the Condors return home to face Stockton on Thursday before a pair of road games on the weekend vs the Iowa Wild.

Condors fell to the Heat today 4-3 in OT. Maksimov picked up his first professional goal and assist and Persson too recorded his first point (assist) with the Condors. Day and McLeod also scored while Skinner took the loss in net. Shots were 29-27 Bakersfield. PP was 0/2 in their couple opportunities and the PK was busy going 1/7.

Mini Oilers lost a pair of games on the weekend to the Iowa Wild.
Saturday night the Condors couldn't hold their 2-1 lead going into the third and the Wild came out with three unanswered goals to take the game 4-2. Marody and Currie were our scorers. Skinner stopped 33 of 37 as the Wild outshot the Condors 37-21. Special teams were good going 1/2 PP and 0/4 PK.
Sunday the Condors (7-8-3) made it to the shootout before falling 3-2 to the Wild (11-4-2-2). Currie and Day were our scorers. Again the team led 2-1 headed into the third period but the Wild were able to tie the game and then take it in the SO. Dylan Wells set a new Condors record stopping 49of 51 shots, the most shots allowed ever by the Condors.
Next up for Bakersfield is a home game tomorrow night (Weds 27th) vs the division leaders Tucson Roadrunners (Arizona).
