Condors beat the Barracuda 5-0 yesterday in a game that seen Skinner record his first ever pro AHL shutout stopping all 35 shots directed at him. Nice job Stuart! Scorers were Hebig, Benson, Gamba, Maksimov, and Peluso. Shots 35-34 SJ. PP 0/3, PK 0/3. Manning faced the first game of his suspension while Benning played the 2nd game of his conditioning stint and picked up the primary assist on Benson's goal. I'm guessing Matt sticks around for the pair of games vs Tucson on the weekend and then he'll rejoin the big team in Edmonton after that. Condors are now 17-18-5 on the season, currently two pts shy of a playoff spot.

Stoked to get Benny back in the mix, and wondering if there's a move coming...

Condors enter the All-Star break winning three in a row after beating the Pacific leading Roadrunners again last night by a score of 4-1. Currie scored two, Esposito, and Granlund(EN) also tallied. Lagesson had a pair of assists. PP 1/7 PK 0/6, shots were 24-22 Bakersfield and Skinner got the win. I notice Benning was a scratch for this one, assuming he's on his way up to Edmonton? I heard Holland attended the pair of games vs Tucson, good to see he's keeping up on the youngsters firsthand. Condors are now 19-18-5 and will resume regular season play at home on the 31st vs the Ontario Reign.

Condors lost to the Reign 4-3 last night. Gamba and Currie each had a goal and assist in the loss, Esposito also scored. Shots were even at 31, Skinner was in net. PP 0/3 PK 1/8, looks like the team couldn't stay outta the box. Bouchard is piling up pts lately with 4g 8a in his last 15gp. Condors finished January 7-6-0 and are now 19-19-5 on the season. While our big team is hopefully kicking arse in Cowtown tonight our farm boys will take to the ice in Stockton to hopefully do the same to the mini-flamers tonight. Going to be tough game considering all the call-ups to Edm, and the Heat are a good team.
GO CONDORS GO!!

Condors were absolutely annihilated at home as they got pounded for five goals in the first period to go and lose to the Reign 10-3 last night. Wtf? Ouch! Our scorers were Maksimov, Malone, and Stukel. Mcleod and Persson each had a pair of assists. Skinner took the beating in net. PP 1/2 PK 1/1. Shots 38-34 Condors. Next up for the Bake is the Gulls in San Diego on Sunday.

Condors could not hold their 2-0 lead going into the third period and ended up dropping their 3rd in a row losing 4-2 to the Ontario Reign on Tues night. Currie(1g 1a) and Gamba were our scorers, Skinner was in net. Shots 28-27 Reign. PP 0/2 PK 2/4. For Currie it was his 20th goal of the season, the fourth consecutive season he has been able to achieve 20 goals in a season. Also, with two assists in the game Granlund now has 6g 9a in 15gp since joining the Condors. Interesting game note - Condors had 10 players in the game that weren't in the original line-up to start the season... injuries and call-ups playing large factors this year. Next up Bakersfield has back-to-back games at home on Sat/Sun vs the Eagles and Barracuda.

Can't expect much from the farm team right now. Bouch, laggy, Benson, yammo, Russell, Jones, Bear all up with these injuries. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's one third of the farm regulars up with the big club

I think when it comes to team MVP this year we should just nominate and vote for the entire Bakersfield Condors as a group. Without them this year we would be in the lotto conversation:
Bear - top four Dman....might be our best Jones- does not look out of place here at all Benson- He has done alright with Sheahan/Archie, I like the kid Leggason - Good depth defender for sure Cave - effort level 1000 Yammimoto - if the team worked like this kid we would be undefeated this year.
Last year we would be done with the injuries sustained, finished. We actually have depth finally. And it will get better yet. Lavoie, McCleod, Bouchard, Broberg, Sammy and one of the goalie( I think Skinner but I get him and Starett mixed up all the time).
One thing Chia did do right was right the ship on our AHL team.

Condors dropped another pair of games over the last two days. Friday center Beau Starrett scored his first professional goal in the losing cause as the Condors fell to San Diego 4-1. Saturday the Condors looked to be in great shape up 4-0 vs Colorado but alas the Eagles would score with ten seconds to go in the second and go on to tie it up at 4 in the third period before winning the game in O.T. 5-4. Ouch. 1-7-2 in their last ten and now 20-25-7 on the season it's looking like the ever-changing bodies and injuries have taken their toll on the Condors this season, playoffs are unlikely. On a high note the big team has reaped the rewards of the farm team's development of several players that are now finding success with the Oilers and that's the whole idea. Woody and co. have done a great job. Condors now have a week off before they return to the ice for a road match vs the Ontario Reign on Saturday the 29th.

It's been awhile since I've updated here, I decided to wait until the Condors actually won a game again and they finally did on Saturday night defeating the Heat 4-3 in a shootout. Before Saturday's win the team had dropped the previous ten games putting themselves out of playoff contention as they sit 6th in the Pacific division only three pts ahead of the Barracuda for last place in the div with a record of 21-27-5-3. SJ and the Bake are actually battling for last place in the entire league for that matter however all other divisions have played more games then the Pacific, it's just the way it is in the AHL. Can't fault Woody and the crew for the team record this year as we all know the big club has relied heavily on the farm resources this season which is really a sign of successful training and development. Bakersfield should receive some talent next yr with the likes of Lavoie, Broberg, Rasanan, Konovalov all possibly joining the team. Current Condors Maksimov and Samorukov will get a push while we may see permanent departures from Benson and Bouchard for 20/21.
Top 5 leading scorers for Condors this season:
Currie 56gp 24g 17a 41pts Benson 47gp 9g 27a 36pts Bouchard 54gp 7g 29a 36pts Malone 49gp 13g 18a 31pts Gamba 50gp 14g 14a 28pts
Next up the Condors venture outside their division on Fri/Sat for back-to-back road games vs the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit).

Will Lavoie be old enough? He was just drafted last draft. Most players have up to 2 more seasons in the CHL after being drafted, no? Bear and Yamo both had to do 2 more seasons before being eligible for the A.
