I didnt realize Eric Staal was still a ufa looking for a team. I wonder if we could get him in on a PTO.

If we could add Eric Staal and Dubnyk That would great by me. I don't know if Holland could make it work, but I think there could be some karma to both acquisitions.

yep, another Goalie is more important atm than another aging vet looking to squeeze another year out of failing limbs IMO

yep, another Goalie is more important atm than another aging vet looking to squeeze another year out of failing limbs IMO If the aging vet you are talking about is Staal, he played very well for the Habs last season and made some crucial plays in the play offs. If we are looking to go deep in the post season, Eric Staal would bring valuable experience and that killer instinct that we seem to be missing at crucial times.

I've been a Khudobin fan the past few years and if he shakes loose from the Stars that's who I hope Kenny goes after. Man, camp is starting out a little rough already... -Samorukov out for awhile -Holloway out for awhile -Klefbom out for season or longer -Stalock out for season or longer -Russell neck strain (hopefully minor) -Keith late to TC -Archie likely sent to farm (or traded) who knows Tough to see Sammy and Holly out before camp even begins, was stoked to see them both! Like Klef, sad news on Stalock. Wishing a speedy recovery to them all. Russell should be back quickly. Glad to see Keith onboard. Probably byebye to Archie, bummer, enjoyed him on the ice. No more setbacks please! Still pumped for NHL hockey, we're getting close! GOG!!

TBH, i thought he was irrelevant to the Habs success (Unlike Perry). I didn't notice him and the way the oilers are shaping up, i honestly dont see room on the roster for him? Saying that, if we give him a PTO and he beats out the rookies and other incumbents, then i'm all for giving him and anyone else for that matter a shot to earn their place. However, most teams/players are rapidly filling up their PTO spots, so if he's thinking he's entitled to an NHL spot/contract, then hard pass!

Not only cause he’s good, but because he’s an undersized Russian goalie for today’s NHL. 5’11” 194lbs. Who else is another undersized Russian goalie? I’m glad you asked. Ilya Konovalov at 5’11” 196lbs. Khudobin would literally be the perfect mentor for him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Interesting preseason game last night with plenty of good looks from our bottom 6 potential. Not much opportunity for the pk scenario, but I wonder if Archibald tuned in to view the competition for his roster spot.Hopefully it will have an impact on his decisions going forward.

Dunno about Archie, but flames offense sure needs a shot in the arm ! Congrats Condors on destroying team with 50% of Flames Roster!

Also what is encouraging is that the young guys were not intimidated by the size and physicality of the flames. The flames iced a big team last night.

Tomorrows game vs the Kraken will be interesting as their lineup is about 90% NHL experienced players with an average of 267 NHL games each. Last night they played the Canucks whose on ice roster was about 75% rookies and they won 5-3.

Yeah, I posted in the shout box during the game yesterday that he’s really going to help solve our 3rd and 4th line scoring issues.

Yup, posted as much in flames thread. "Sutter" Hockey is fine if you make the playoffs, but its too slow for reg season, so chances are you wont make them. MTL similar team, they got very lucky last season playing the north and scraped through, then owned the conference. Flames hoping and preying that none of the pacific teams have improved in order for them to sneak in. But I look at their team and see status quo or regression, not improvement. I'm guessing the knights and oilers should be a lock and likely the kraken as well considering the vet squad they pulled together (and the new boy leniency rules will apply). LA looked to have improved a fair bit as well, so flames will be battling Van and LA for the 4th spot presuming there is one and central doesnt take 5 spots. If it goes sideways they could battle Arizona for the basement?

They're going to have to score, and they don't have the forwards to outgun many teams. Coleman helps, but Lucic will probably regress. Monahan? Who knows? It'll be up to Tkachuk and Gaudreau to carry the offensive load and I'm not sure they're up to it. Markstrom could have a great year and keep them in a lot of games. A lot of "ifs". I feel better about the changes we've made, that's for sure.

I'm quite hopeful we can challenge Vegas for top spot and a lot would have to go wrong for us not to make playoffs. Flames however need an awful lot to go right just to get in playoffs! We shall see, Reg season is getting closer and my anticipation and optimism are as high as they've been in quite a few years!!!!
