We are 2-1-1 so far after 4 games in probably the the toughest 6 game stretch of the season. Yay! Big rest now as we don't play until the 20th. 4 of our 6 remaining games are at home. 3 of our 6 remaining games are vs current non-playoff teams. If we go 3-3-0, and Kings win out and go 6-0-0 we'd be tied with 100 pts but we'd still finish in 2nd due to regulation wins. Vegas ain't catching us, they'd have to win out too and go 6-0-0 and us go less then .500 to do so, but they could still catch L.A. With our win today we clinched the flames a playoff spot, you're welcome, see you at the dance girls. GOG!!

Seems like every time we start to get momentum, something comes along (Covid, other team with Covid, All-Star break) to break said momentum. I don't have the Stat handy but I'd bet that our record after longer layoffs (3 days or more) is quite poor. Thankfully, we have a nice cushion that will hopefully cover up a hiccup. And who knows? By Wednesday our magic number could be down to 2.

Do you guys think we should rest 29-97-25 for a game, or a couple, once we get the X ?
I don't know, but it seems like a good idea to me. We haven't been in this position with these guys, so it's hard to say how they'd respond.

I'd LOVE to see this team actually get into that position where they can debate it.

It is a nice idea and i think it'd be beneficial, but I doubt we get into that position with more than 1-2 games left, especially if we want the home ice advantage (we do). You also have to consider that McD would desperately like to win the art Ross and I'm sure Drai would like a crack at 60 too, so I'm not sure if they would want to come out of the line up either? Best case scenario for this to potentially happen is if both go on a real tear the next 3-4 games and sew up the art ross, get to 60 goals and lock up 5th place. If that all happens with a game or 2 to go then maybe, otherwise I think just playing them <15 mins a night will also be beneficial and doable and also give others a chance to contribute more without messing up the lineup combos and chemistry too much.

I was thinking of Drai's comment earlier in the season when he was asked about winning the Richard again. His answer was "it's time to win". I think they might have a different attitude about things than a few years ago. Certainly agree, keeping them playing but reduced minutes could be the smart solution

Our team seems like it takes time to get going even after having a few days off. I would like them to keep on a rolling but with reduced minutes once we clinch. We don’t go on these types of rolls very often so I say keep it going.

We haven't been in this position with these guys, so it's hard to say how they'd respond. Honestly if I was coach I'd leave it up to the players (McD/Drais/Nurse). And not not for personal point production (though I'm sure they'd want that, they may not admit it), but more for staying in the groove so to speak. Lots of players don't want to rest, especially when going into the playoffs hot, if we presumably continue to do so. I say keep them wheels turning if they want to turn, I do agree with reduced minutes as well as doc mentioned makes sense. If they got bumps and bruises, yes rest them. They need to be at their best come playoff time that's priority 1, but I'd leave it up to them to decide, once our position in the standings is set in stone that is. Who knows what game # that will be. Nice "problem" to have though. Good Q foggy.

Hey SS, this could be true, though I think you underestimate the power of the force. We got 4 home games in there including a "revenge shall be ours" matchup vs the Avs, and SJ, Van, Dallas. All winnable. On the road we have A Jarryless Penguins team so we'll likely face an average DeSmith and possibly resting Crosby/Malkin team and our other road game is vs the Jackets which is also very winnable. I like our home ice odds. Curious who you are concerned about catching us, L.A., or Vegas? Or both? We definitely can't let up our guard, and I don't think we will.

Vegas just choked to the Devils. Oilers need 4 points (or Vegas loses 2) to clinch a playoff spot. Vegas still has Stars, Caps and Blues left to play. Looking good.
