Big game tonight boys. I believe even if LA wins 4 out of their last 6 which is extremely possible that means we only need 3 wins out of our last 8 (I believe) to lock up 3rd place. If it's 5 out of 6 then we need to win 4 out of 8. I believe the tie breaker goes to pts % first then number of wins. With their lineup back I would expect Vegas to push. Saturday's game against Vegas gonna big as well, note the 4pm EST start. Tie Breaker is RW......Regulation Wins. I believe it's points % then regulation wins. Given the Oil have had less overtime wins/games/losses this is to their advantage come a tie. Yes? No?

If two team end up with the same points after 82 games, their points % is the same (Unless I'm calculating wrong somehow). My understanding is that tiebreakers are regulation wins as well.

My understanding is pts% becomes irrelevent when all teams play 82 games. By definition a team with more pts would have a higher % so its like saying the first tiebreaker is "who has the most points" which i guess technically is correct . it was only relevent when the league was prematurely stopped for covid and some teams had played more games, other less. Conspiracy theorists (Me and Bronc) would say the NHL made it a 1st tiebreaker so they could let Dallas in and force us to play the play in. After that it's reg win and yes that is currently to our advantage over LA and Vegas (just), however Preds have more RW's than us.

if it's same points then it's Regulation wins. If it's still tied then it goes to ROW (Regulation PLUS overtime wins). If it's still tied then it goes to W (All wins including regulation, overtime, and shootout). If it's still tied then it goes to the winner of the season series between the two. If it's still tied then it goes to the greater goal differential. If it's still tied then it finally goes to total team goals scored including shootout. www.nhl.com/standings/2021/wildcard

As every team is going to play 82 games, how can it possibly be Points %? It can't as the points % will be same for all clubs who are tied on points.

And what if it’s still tied? Evander Kane takes on five of the other team's players in a fight..........I have my money on Evander to get us in the play offs by that method .

Standings look nice this morning. Let's be honest here though Gary, if it wasn't for your bonus points for losing, Vegas should be ahead of L.A. Cest la vie. Bettman's parity is kinda embarrassing. Reality has it: Vegas 41 wins, 34 losses (+22 with game in hand) L.A. 39 wins, 37 losses (-5) Kings in current playoff spot. I'm getting old. I miss the win lose or draw days.

Flames are useless. Didn't help as Vegas and LA beat them in their own barn. Standings do look ok. Great game last night. SO FAR those of us complaining about old man Smith are eating crow. So far...
Funny stat:
Wild Own Oilers this year going 3-0.
Oilers own Preds this year going 3-0.
Preds own Wild this year going 3-0.
Preds and Wild play a very similar game. Funny hockey.

Agreed except to say that Duncan Keith wasn't playing in the Preds v Wild games .

We are 2-1-1 so far after 4 games in probably the the toughest 6 game stretch of the season. Yay! Big rest now as we don't play until the 20th. 4 of our 6 remaining games are at home. 4 of our 6 remaining games are vs current non-playoff teams. If we go 3-3-0, and Kings win out and go 6-0-0 we'd be tied with 100 pts but we'd still finish in 2nd due to regulation wins. Vegas ain't catching us but they could still catch L.A. With our win today we clinched the flames a playoff spot, you're welcome, see you at the dance girls. GOG!!
