All great points and it sounds correct that we are not built that way or we are not patient enough to wait for another team to make a mistake. Hopefully we do win a few games this way though.
Whether it's Smith or Koss my hope we have a +.900 save%, right around the .915 area for the goalie and the team as a whole with forwards coming back and being accountable on D. If we can do that we have the offense to get it done on the other end and win the games.
Having a <.900 save % does not solely sit on the goalie, it sits on the team. Have to break that trend to have success. We are the ones letting in the extra goal, we are the ones making the mistake in the end to lose playoff games. Whether it's the goalie, or the D or not getting the puck deep like McD did for the winning goal for the Jets last year. That was an offensive zone play, while our D was changing so poor plays can be 180ft from our net as well.
Last game Drai cherry picking is great when it works, costly when it doesn't. Mistakes cost, whether we were outplayed or not it's the team that makes the big mistakes that loses.

Agree Windsor. Trying to be totally objective, i think that with either Smitty or Kosk, we have enough "quality" to beat LA if we play our best game, regardless of what LA does. Beyond that, I'm not sure we can dance with the elite just yet, but was hoping that winning a series and playing for a div title would give us the experience to come back stronger next year and compete (hopefully with better tending, tougher D and more forward depth). No idea how KH accomplishes all that, but maybe a few farm boys breakout, someone like Husso shakes free?? It would be another bitter pill though, if we go out to LA because we have the 2nd best goaltending yet again, regardless of whether other players also fail to perform.

Welp. It's Smitty again tonight so we're about to find out. I'm hoping the team rallies around him. They usually commit to a better D game when he is in net vs Kosk, although that wasnt the case in game 1. Smitty has a lot to prove, I'm hoping he finds the swagger he had in the last month of reg season as he was definitely playing too deep after the 1st period last game. A few quick goals and a nice 2-3 goal oiler lead in the first might do wonders for everyone's confidence!!

Archie’s cardiologist has got him a medical exemption. So, he’s available for all games going forward.

Is he? He said we'll see in his presser? That would be great if he can play.

Woody said Archie’s cardiologist got him a medical exemption. At least that’s what Rishaug and Spector tweeted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My heart and feeling test shows he is ahead of Ryan and maybe Pulj. Only Archie and Bertuzzi are unvaxxed that I know of. Be nice to see Archie succeed and squash the agenda. He is fighting for his NHL career which many in their profession do not get a chance to do if this is the case. All the good fortune in the world young man. Do what you do best career wise, not based on other choices to bring you down.......

This team is capable of so much more than they showed in game 1. I believe we will get a taste of what they are capable of tonight. Most of the team had a bad case of the nerves most of the night but McDavid and Draisaitl seemed pretty good I thought. We need to get the whole team on the same page, playing the sound game that we finished the season with. Then we'll need to keep it rolling. I know I'll be rolling as I watch the game.

JUST WIN! I'll be late to the show again as junior has a baseball game tonight. Found a small Oilers life preserver suited for a 3 yr old when going through storage today. Was thinking about wearing it to the baseball game tonight as it barely fits over over my fat head lol but it's pretty comfortable to lean back in in a lawn chair. I won't be bringing it haha. Hope to be on here later tonight. Gotta win tonight, no ifs ands or buts about it. GOG!!

Great game. Forgot earlier the importance of Ryan on faceoffs. We now have 4 lines with Archie in the lineup.
We got the monkey off the back. McLeod and Pulj with goals, can only be good for the confidence.
Earlier in the season it was discussed whether we have team toughness. Well, tonight was saw what the team is capable of. Archie adds to that of course. As long as him, Kass, Nurse stay on the right side of the line (no penalties)

Your belief in the team was rewarded mrtea. A much, much better performance, especially from JP, and Kassian who was like the "old Kassian" that this team needs hitting everything that moved in a white shirt, Archibald also played his part, but the big guns really did the trick, Connor, Leon, Darnell and Evander were not going to be denied tonight........and they were not! Kudos also to Mike Smith, he came back with a vengeance, and you can't ask more from a goalie than a shut out. Also I think the further we go in the play offs, the more influential Duncan Keith will become. Now, lets see what we can do on the road! Only 15 more wins Mr Woodcroft .

Now to follow that up with a couple of wins in LA. I doubt we see anymore blowouts like last night because you know LA will be digging deep for a response. If the boys can continue to play with the intensity of the last game, then they can take this series in 6 games. Last night Mr. Kassian impressed me immensely, those hits were spectacular! I've been critical of Zack for a while, but he is showing his worth now. We need him to continue to bring that energy. The team played a team game, that's what it takes this time of year.

Tea keeping the board in check, awesome. MRTEA I should say, excuse me. The hockey Gods smiled upon us. Think it was the first shot of the game when that puck slid through Smith and stopped short of the goal line. What a different game it could have been for LA. Instead Smith bounces back, breaks the 0 for 10 playoff drought and gets some confidence back. Now it's up to Quick to bounce back, we scored enough goals to shake him maybe. As mentioned earlier was to go up high with shots. Glad the Oil listened. We got a couple bounces but some of our goals were unstoppable IMO. Nurse with his first playoff goal as well, didn't know that. If anyone watched the Smith/Ryan presser my fav part was the out of town lady reporter (from LA maybe?) asking about the fans and how amazing it was and she's never seen anything like it. Gives the goosebumps
