Though it's 1-1 in the series, I feel like we have taken LA's best punch, lost a winnable game, and then throttled them when we played well. Seems like everyone is healthy, and the depth is chipping in.
Smith comes back with a shutout.
My favorite part is the icetime. McD 16:52 Drai 15:10 Hyman 17:01 Kane 18:51 Yammo 17:24 Nuge 15:58 Nurse 18:57
This will pay dividends later.
Also, surprised to learn that that was Nurse's first playoff goal.

We can't expect to win in a blow out like that every game, but it is very reassuring to see so many parts of the team playing at such a high level. Many things have luckily fallen into place for us and they are cementing into a very good, skilled and determined team that has surprising team wide depth when you consider how many holes this team had last year and the year before. If we can continue to play hard, smart and have each other's backs, this team has the potential to go deep and do some major damage. As the old saying goes "Anything can happen once you make the playoffs".

Something I meant to address earlier is how good Keith and Bouchard are playing and that no matter what happens in these playoffs, we have the emergence of a very talented young blueliner who will only get better with time. Keith is not the only reason for Bouchard's recent transformation, but he is a big factor. I was saying for years we needed someone of Keith's stature to help our rookies along, it feels great to see it happening. Seeing how Keith is so composed out there and how he's elevated his game to another level during the playoffs is very reassuring also.

Goals 2, 3 and 4 were all deflected and Quick seemed to be in place to make the original save. We need to keep the shot volume up with traffic in front. Even the first and last goal Quick was screened by his own players.
Goals 1 (Drai) and 5 (JP) were the “beat the goalie with a quick pass and shoot” variety.
Pucks to the net and bodies in front.

Media have mentioned Draisaitl being more physical last game. Stats sheet says one hit. I saw a few battles but nothing to me that said he was upping his physicality. Anyone see it differently?
Loved Connor’s hitting last night. Only Zack and Archie threw more hits.

What a game! Not much too add that you fellas have not said. If we get that Kassian every night going forward he will make a big difference. Woody's presser after the game was awesome, liking him more and more as we get to know him. Knowledgeable coach. Great team win last night. I'm feeling much better now. Game one gave me a lil scare. We play our game and we got this. Expose their inexperienced D. Lotsa shots on Quick, get in his face. Hit em hard and often. Watch out for them zebras. Keep it up boys! GO OILERS GO !!

Loved Connor’s hitting last night. Only Zack and Archie threw more hits. Without just focusing on the one game, this season has seen both Leon and Connor considerably up their physicality, and Leon especially is becoming a sort of "mean machine" not necessarily throwing hits on the play, but participating in "after the puck has gone" activities which I am sure many on here have noticed. I don't recall ever seeing Leon drop the gloves, but it would be interesting to see how he fared if he did (with a selective partner of course). Not that I am suggesting that, but Leon and Connor for perhaps different reasons can't be pleasant to play against............I am just waiting for Jesse to join the party ......terrific shot last night for his goal by the way, hopefully got the monkey or more like the bison of his back. Seems a long time since Jesse last scored.........let's go Jesse!

Both had more minutes than Nurse last night, and I'm very happy with that. Great to see Bouchard settling in to his d zone play. He was really struggling there for a while and the improvement has been steady and significant. Not sure Keith will be back next year. Feel like his cap could be better spent somewhere else. But, it's hard to argue with the play we're seeing him now, and for the last couple of months.

Whatever is decided about Keith, one thing to me stands out and that is we without question, have to find enough cap space money to sign Evander Kane. No ifs, no buts, no questions, this player fits into our team like the proverbial glove.........as long as he doesn't ask for a ridiculous amount of course. But I can't see the number he will expect (and deservedly in my opinion) starting with less than a 5.......could it even be a 6?

He's a big boy and I imagine a full on hit from him hurts way more than mcD. I dont want either to get too dirty or drop the gloves because no matter who they take with them, we'll be the ones worse off. I like their level of compete, physicality and engagement where it is, and so far there hasn't been a reason to up it any higher and risk losing them for a significant part of the game

He’s not going to play for free, but I get the sense that we can get a reasonable deal with him if we remain competitive. Seems to have a good locker room fit which he didn’t have before. Fully agree we have to re-sign him.

Does anyone know how they travelled to L.A. Woody was saying in the interview all the players agreed to it, but it was long.

Does anyone know how they travelled to L.A. Woody was saying in the interview all the players agreed to it, but it was long. Flew to VAN, then took a bus over the boarder. COVID test required when flying to the US, but not by driving over the border. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This game will be a tougher road to travel, but I think the team is ready for it. I think our boys are expecting it, and I think they are ready for the next step, killer instinct. We'll see how that goes.
An important step the team just took, is the ability to play in different game styles. The team showed last game the ability to play a tough physical game, this was the one concern on most Oiler fans minds. I have been critical about Yamamoto's size in the past, but so far he is making me eat crow, especially lately. I have found that crow actually tastes pretty good when you can watch Yammy check through a larger opponent and win the battle! McDavid has brought his physical game up by an incredible amount, which is another pleasure to watch. Nuge.....did I say Nuge!?! Yes, Nuge was throwing some nice hits last game and he looked pretty good doing it also! The team is showing the ability to play different styles and be successful doing it! Now to take it one game at a time.
GO OILERS GO!!!

I am excited for the game tonight and hope that they come out flying. The aggressive play needs to continue and I expect that LA will amp it up in front of their fans. In any case, I think the Oilers are the better team and should take the series.

Taking the bus over the border. Silly but I checked and it goes both ways. The Mets and Lightning took this route as well, including the Jays. So while it's an inconvenience at least it's fair to add to what MBM said above. In other words, the US teams are doing the same and the rules apply to both CAN and US teams. However, Oilers go through Vancouver instead of direct so makes a little more of a travel day. Wonder what the Lames are doing, they are probably close enough to take the bus into Montana then leave from there bypassing a flight to Vancouver.
Go Oilers. LA has been weaker at home, they are a better road team so see what happens. Hopefully the young LA players are stuck in la la land for awhile, like our players were 1st game in front of the fans. LA was all over us early on. On the other hand it's been since 2017 since Oilers have been in front of a hostile environment come playoffs. Ben is suppose to be in the building for at least one of the games, that should be a boost.

He can't be traded, waived etc without his consent, which won't happen, and why would he retire and forfeit $5.5 Million?
