I know I wasn't a fan of Zack Kassian either, until he was an Oiler for a minute, and kinda won me over. So I'll wait to pass judgement. Great work Always on the stats and Columbus feel your issues. Being from Windsor as Kass is can understand the love/hate. By no means is the Perry signing a star but like Keith he is a proven gamer and winner and hopefully this translates to the next level. Recall how Kass played in the playoffs for us, it was electric for a short time. Perry can bring some of this on a bottom 6 level and he wants to win ONE MORE time, so hard to argue with that. At worst we have a Kessel situation with little play but plenty of cups type of situation. At worst it's about the presence for us, like it was for Vegas.

At the bottom in the comments they claim he took this back and that it was false. Whatever really did happen hopefully all have moved passed it and it doesn’t happen again.

I have always been a Perry fan. Even when he played against us, I admired his competitiveness and his willingness to do whatever it takes, legal or otherwise, to win. We are going to curse him for the odd dumb penalty, like Kane, but I’ll take that if he plays on the edge like he has for most of his career.

Ekholm, Nurse, Desharnais on the back Kane, Perry up front. Don't think many will be calling us soft this year. Add Hyman in there as a pain to play against, and we're cooking with gas.

Guys like Perry are needed when goalies are on their game. Perry will crash the net and get in the heads of the goaltender. Good pickup Oil for the playoffs. Holland is gradually turning Edmonton into a complete team. I still think Edmonton need more defenseman, I'm sure that will be looked at before the trade deadline.

One more shut down D, and an upgrade or two. Do that and I think we have a shot at a deep run.

Did Perry fight in Chicago? I think he'll pick and choose an actual fight but more looking for him just to muck it up.

After saying that I will not disagree with any upgrades that can be made.

Oh not talking about fighting. There's so little of it in the game now. I'm just talking about battles around the net. In the corners. Scrums, spears, slashes, and all the other fun stuff.

I thought Perry looked very good on that line with McCleod and Holloway. I thought it looked like they had chemistry, Perry said in the interview that they were talking on the bench and on the ice, which he thought helped. So to me he looked very good and should only get better as the season goes on. He knows where to be and he knows what to do when he gets there and he seems to fit like a missing piece. This is a great signing!

ALWAYS? ? ? ? ? ? Yep. I have both cursed and admired him at the same time. Always wished he were an Oiler. I don't like him. I wished that he would retire because the league will be better when he is sitting in a rocking chair. They won 15 in a row without him.

There are very few "pretty goals" in the playoffs, Perry is a master at scoring ugly goals. You need lots of ugly goals to win playoff rounds, it's something we have desperately lacked in the past and I hope he can be a major contributor in this area. If he doesn't he's likely gone in the off-season anyway?

If he can continue or even get better then I would gladly welcome him to be an Oiler for another year or two if he would sign for the same kind of money considering his age and baggage.

My logic is: If he does well between now and end of season/playoffs, he'll get a lot of offers of more than $1M next season. If he does nothing then I'm not sure you'd want to re-sign? As it stands right now after only 1 game, he already looks like a real bargain and already an upgrade on Erne and Brown and maybe 1-2 others? So I'm thinking if he keeps it up, we'll be very unlikely to get him for only $1M next season but if he does well and wants to stay for $1M then good for us!!
