I see on the Oilers site they are running a story about Bouchard's development and his continued improvement that will benefit him when he is ready to make the next step. I thought it is about time for his own thread. He is happily developing in Bakersfield and is soaking up as much as he can. This is good news and a good sign for things to come. There are other high end D prospects there and soon will be even more when Broberg comes across the pond.

Him and Bouch developing together and building chemistry would be great. EDIT: Forgot Broberg had been drafted into the CHL. So it was Hamilton or Sweden. My bad.

Bouchard has been playing exceptionally well as of late on the farm and will be joining Benson at the AHL All-Star game. Yam got the invite too but won't be attending. 40gp- 7g, 17a, 24pts. Fourth in team scoring, 1 pt behind Malone for third. Excellent rookie season so far!

Not to derail the topic, but I see Samoroukov only has 6 points in 31 games. Is he doing ok on defense? He's only a -1 so I'm guessing he's doing alright...

Yeah, he does seem to be more of a defensive defenseman since turning pro. Or maybe Woodcroft is developing his D game first. Him and Lagesson do lead the D in +/-. So, yeah I'm guessing he's doing alright on D.

A while back I read an article, sorry I forget which site, that said Samorokov was slowly finding his way and it took him some time to adapt to the AHL. The article went on to say he was finding his stride and things were looking better lately. I think there is still lots of time for him to grow his game because as we know some D take time to develop at their own pace. We've been spoiled by Bear and Bouchard developing at a very quick pace and should not expect every D in our system to do the same. Broberg is another high end D we've got coming down the pipes and we'll have to wait and see what he does when he gets to the AHL.

The kid has all the tools and I really want to see him play with more skilled guys. Him on our PP in the future would make our great PP even better.

Bouchard ripped a shot 103mph (6th all-time best in AHL) in the AHL hardest shot comp last night. Awesome, and at only 20 yrs old, looking forward to more of that! Impressive as Bouch was, his shot was only good for 2nd as Martin Frk from the Ontario Reign blasted a shot 109.2mph taking over as hardest shot ever in both the AHL and NHL comps besting Chara's NHL record of 108.8mph in 2012. Wow. Anyway, great on Evan at 103mph, his shot should gain even more mustard as he ages. Good stuff!

What is Frk's issue that he can't break into the NHL? He's got a blast of a shot, did well for detroit before being traded to the Ducks... and pounds in 3 goals in 4 games for the Ducks before getting sent down? I don't get it. From the limited viewing I got of him I thought he looked pretty decent
EDIT: Sorry, it was the Kings, not the Ducks

I am hoping Bouchard EARNS a spot on the top 4 next year. He must be better than what we have. I think Holland starts him in the AHL next year.

Sounds like he's doing better since Christmas but I'd prefer to see 30 games in a row of great AHL hockey before we plug him in. Whenever he gets here, I'm excited to see what he can do!

Yeah. He's 24-6-1. My biggest issue is his size. He's less than 160lbs.

Now as I get stoked for the upcoming playoffs my mind is drawn to the state of Bouchard's present physical condition. He may not even be eligible to play in the playoffs regardless of his conditioning because of the amount of games played in the NHL.
The point of this is does anyone know or have read or heard about Bouchard's fitness level and/or what he's been doing to stay in shape.

Love the bit about his in-game adjustments. I think he's eligible to be on the playoff roster, but I'm not sure he's the best use of a spot. Going to be very interesting to see who they decide to go with.
