Skinner? Rodrigue? Konovalov? Will any of them pan out if we can't trade Kosk and we have to keep him as a stopgap for two more years?
Is it reasonable or realistic to bank on getting Askarov and hoping he pans out fast?
Or do we dip into free agency?

I'm hoping Konovalov will pan out AND Askarov drops to 14. I hope Askarov is gone so we can't take a goalie in the first round. I think we'll keep doing what we've been doing. Just patching it together and expecting average tending, hoping that one of our guys gets on a heater at the right time. using a 1st round pick on a goalie is a waste IMO. history says your just as likely to get a lundquist (8th round) or Cujo (undrafted)in later rounds or get a Rick DiPietro with FOA. The current hero of the hour Thatcher Demko was a 2nd rounder and without doing an exhaustive search, I'd bet there are more current goalies playing who were picked after the first round than before. There's a reason very few teams pick a goalie with a FRP. Besides, several NHL goalies always become available in off season as UFA or cheap pick ups and this year is no different. At least when you pick and choose from this pile you have a few years NHL play to go on.

I expect nothing too, it's just nice to see one of our goalie prospects putting up really good numbers playing pro hockey. It seems most of our goalie picks do well in Junior, then slow down once going pro. |

He's apparently gone back up, cause former Oiler Pasquale has gone super nova on the same team. But he started recently and made 22 saves out of 23 shots, albeit in a losing cause where his team got shut out. By the way, I have to admit I chuckled a little when I saw this:  |

I guess I that means I shouldn’t have mentioned Bouchard either cause he looked good in the 12 games we saw this year too. Either way, the competition in camp is gonna be fun to watch. |

Can you think of any reason why they only did a 2yr deal as opposed to usual 3yr deal? If he's the real deal, I'd have thought 3yr on ELC would be better?

I don't think anyone is saying he is the real deal. How can you know with goalies. But the 2 year deal is often given to players coming over from Europe. Though I don't know the exact reasoning, I feel like players coming out of college in the US get 2year deals as well. |
