Sounds like Markus Niemelainen is slotted in to Bakersfield this year. 63rd pick in 2016 22yo 6'6" 190lbs LHD
Last 2 years in Liiga. Scouting reports say good skater. doesn't generate much but doesn't give up much either. Another possibility.

If he can be physical, then he could potentially be of some use to us.

Of course that's a few years away, but it's certainly possible. add Samorukov in the mix, and we've got some healthy competition.

At 24, with 8 NHL games played, I'll be pleasantly surprised if he competes for anything more than a place-holder spot.

Whenever you can get some value from fringe NHL players whether it is filling a spot until youngsters are ready or a throw in as part of a trade it's a positive. He might even eke out an NHL career for a few years if he develops.

He might even eke out an NHL career for a few years if he develops. Hmm. I think this guy will have a pretty decent and quiet career He very well might, but it is very hard to predict. I've seen players that showed good potential not make it and I've seen players that were pluggers that are smart enough to overcome shortcomings by thinking the game at a higher level. Some guys get it over time and some either don't or fall through the cracks without the chance of proving themselves. Whatever the reason it is hard to predict what kind of career lower tier players will have. One thing he has going for him is he is a good skater.
