That Avalanche team is scary good I only saw the 3rd, and the highlites, but it has to be concerning to the Flames how they match up (or, don't match up!) against the Avs. It has the look of of a Leafs-Bruins, kryptonite, scenario. Lucic punched somebody in the face, so we know that he is alive.

I'm happy with Lucic's performance, he was slow but I expected that. He got some hits in and laid off of them a bit, I don't think he wants to kill anyone. Defended a teammate on a dangerous hit by a huge player and got thrown. Loving Lucic already.
Flames off to a slow start (again). Not worried, very good lineup. Colorado is an emerging team.

James Neal got 14 minutes of icetime last game. Ouch. That's exactly what he averaged for the entire season in Calgary last year.

Neal = 2 Lucic, Reimer, Talbot = 0 I like it so far!! Neal got 2 PP goals. Reider did well on PK and was a defensive force. Lucic was out of position and took 2 ill advised penalties, one being in the nuetral zone with people back, he needs to trust his teammates. Flames played a very good defensive game. Very happy with team play.

New players need to learn the team's structure, the team will go over the video with Lucic and explain it. Neutral zone or avoidable offensive zone penalties shouldn't be taken. I can accept a hard nosed check that is borderline, but not lazy sticks in the feet because of a bad pass. Lucic needs to learn winning hockey again. Reider I have no problem with so far.

Lucic learning? Playing smart hockey?? Yes, when a player starts with a new team there are new teammates that you must develop chemistry with along with a coaching philosophy that must be learned. That's why team chemistry is so important. Lucic can be a team player, I've seen it in Boston, not so much in Edmonton.

The intimidation factor will still be there but in this case however, the pudding is 31 years old, a lot slower, and has a low hockey IQ.... IMO, of course.

Maroon played much better in Edmonton than Lucic. Realistically he's not return to his form from his Boston days, yeah maybe he'll be a little better in Calgary now with less expectations, we'll have to see.
