Nuge is a gem 👌
Was watching some old Oilers' highlights, and that McDavid, Nugent-Hopkins, Rattie line was a big part of the highlights. He's like the glue that holds good lines together, i.e Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Yamamoto.
Ugh that back check and sneaky wrister of his, love it!

Nuge will be one of those oilers that fans 15 yrs from now will say "Yeah, I saw him in his prime with Drai and McD and he was totally underrated"! Kind of like Kurri was during Gretzky's prime (and no i'm not suggesting anyone on this board underrated Jari or that Nuge is in that same HOF league)

Smitty got in to the iihf HOF 🤷🏻♀️ You don't think 94 should be retired? ...if Nuge can get a cup, and maybe an individual award somewhere down the road he may have an under the radar chance at the hockey Hall of Fame.

Ryan Smyth sold us out for $750k per year. Sorry but that's out of line. After everything Smyth did for the team over the years the red wine summit screwed him and trading him over a minor dispute only shows how poor the previous management was at their job, how little they cared about their players, shows that there is no such thing as loyalty, and their entire way of thinking resulted in the decade of darkness. At a time where goals were hard to come, trading their top scorer was completely stupid! What a joke! I have supported much of what you've said in numerous threads Fog, but sold us out??? You are dead wrong. WTF? The Oilers screwed him and were worse off for it!

To cry crocodile tears after taking a hardline..."I never wanted this to happen..". well bud, you had plenty of opportunity to keep it from happening. His results after the negotiations showed that the 5 mil on the table was a very fair price. He didn't take it, and his play and trade value after the deal showed that he was overpaid.

How'd those work out? The era in Oilers history that you guys are talking about is probably the worst time that the Oilers faced. The Oilers had no money, no elite players and desperate management. Putting Horcoff's name alongside the others is just wrong. Horcoff's contract was one of the worst contracts ever given out and a total fail at an experiment to pay a 3rd line center the salary of a 1st line center and hope he turned into that caliber of player. Pisani was over payed after a terrific play off run. He could not maintain that level of play the next season and then throwing in his health problems made that contract look even worse than it was. Luckily for the Oilers Pisani retired soon after because of health issues. Hemsky really had no one to play with that could utilize his skills for maximum results. Ryan Smyth and Ales Hemsky were the best players we had, but they are complimentary players that could help a good team be better. They were not elite players but they did deserve raises once in a while just like any other deserving player.

He held out for $5.75mil and cried about it.
