Good for ye but not me.... who wants to be euthanized to watch the jets...lol www.tsn.ca/winnipeg-jets-require-vaccination-of-all-WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets will require all fans to be fully vaccinated to attend home games at Canada Life Centre this season. The Jets' parent company, True North Sports and Entertainment, made the announcement on Twitter, saying season ticket holders had made it clear that was their preference. The policy also applies to Burton Cummings Theatre, a performing arts centre also owned by True North. The company says it plans to fill the arena for Jets home games this year, and will require all employees, event staff and guests to provide proof of vaccination. The team's website says fans will also be required to wear masks in the arena. A spokesperson for the team says the policy will not apply to players, whose vaccination status will be up to the league and the NHL Players' Association.
The Jets start their season on the road in Anaheim on Oct. 14, and play their first home game against the Ducks a week later. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 11, 2021.

I applaud True North for their foresight and leadership. There is still a pandemic going on and these new variants need to be stopped. The only way to stop it is to be vaccinated and wear a mask and have people who test positive self isolate. The people not vaccinated are the ones getting gravely sick and being hospitalized and letting the variants spread. Vaccinated people might get flu like symptoms that pass in a few days and are done with it. We need to put a stop to the pandemic by using compassion for the people around us. The vaccine does not hurt you, wearing a mask is a small discomfort to pay. Ironically the people that don't want the vaccine are the ones who suffer because they didn't take it and allow the virus to spread further. We don't want the virus to mutate into a virus that isn't affected by the vaccination.

A hot potato political topic that will probably be shut down soon, but my 2 cents is that you can't force people to be vaccinated, however you can make it so they have minimal effect on others, ie vaccine passports. I use smoking as an analogy. People can still smoke, they just can't do so in public. there's not much you can do about the burden it puts on an over-burdened healthcare system, but it does mean we can use public transport, go to events, bars and restaurants without the annoyance of secon-hand smoke. If people have to be vaccinated in order to enjoy these pleasures then so be it. People who dont want to be vaccinated can still stick to their principles, but they have to do so on their own and physically distance from the rest of society. In the end, Darwinism takes over and I'm fine with that also.

Not to worry. More lockdowns will come and the "sit at home/cerb money" will keep flowing as a federal election is called and those sitting at home collecting said money will have the ability to vote by mail. Those living in fear can stay home. The healthy can continue to keep things rolling as we have done since the start

Go to any pharmacy and ask to see the ingredients for the covid 19 vaccine...it ships with a blank paper and shows no ingredients.every other product in their inventory does but the covid vaccine...polio vaccine shows full ingredients and warnings.

I work in a hospital and I wear a mask and I've been vaccinated twice. Even if I didn't agree with wearing a mask, I would do it because it is a minor inconvenience that can help people with low immune systems. Even if the effects are minimal, a small percentage still is helping some. But continue laughing at people who have consideration for others.

I'll allow some rope for this topic as long as it stays on COVID's effects on hockey. Good luck with that SD👍😉. It will be interesting to see how this plays out re: nhl. The USA is very much divided north vs south regarding vaccines and masks etc and here in Canada we have are own east/west divide. I wasn’t being facetious saying good luck because it would be almost impossible to take the politics out of a subject like this but it’s looking like COVID numbers are going up again and vaccinations have stalled. The NHL will be bound and determined to have a full season and full stadiums so will this be left to individual team decisions ? Would a mandatory proof of vaccination mean oiler/flames fans would boycott games.? Jets said they consulted with STH first before mandating this? With a general election coming up and a majority liberal govt on the cards will Trudeau close border again? And or will he impose some kind of federal legislation since he’d have no one to stop him? This ain’t going away no matter what people want/hope/think

The greater distance away the more effect the mask has. Further, the mask protects the public more from the wearer than the wearer from the public. Even a small percentage of help is better than no help, just protecting people from people with coffee breath should be applauded. I don't know about what is going on in Isreal, but I can tell you in North America it is the unvaccinated who are being hospitalized, not the vaccinated. I question where you are getting your news from when you need to go as far as Isreal to get a fact like that and don't know that in North America it is the vaccinated who are not being hospitalized.

This ain’t going away no matter what people want/hope/think I think you raise some very valid points that we are headed into unchartered waters yet again. it will be interesting to witness.. will players and team staffs vaccinate and if not will fans accept they will be required? Border and plane travel are requiring vaccines, how will this effect teams? We are now seeing vaccinated people from around the globe being hospitalized and vaccinated actually catching covid. As the link provided previously stated the vaccine was based off of a proteins and not the complete virus, CDC did tests 20 years earlier to show the data that this could cause virus variants like we are witnessing. Looking at recent trends it would not surprise me in the least to see more lockdowns...we all want to see how this Oiler team fairs with the new additions but something tells me there will be no guarantee's to the season ahead.

Data has shown N95 mask and cloth masks are absolutely ineffective so I question why the Jets would require this to attend games...Maybe they will update once they have the findings? The CDC is also stating vaccinated numbers in the hospital are rising greatly world wide due to the variant and the vaccine no longer protecting against it. The link i provided states clearly why based on science. The Vaccine is one protein of covid not the entire envelope of the covid virus...they have known for 20 years if they adopt one protein it will cause variants almost immediately to be produced by the hosts. dreddymd.com/2021/08/13/dr-richard-fleming-warns-the-vaccine-is-the-bioweapon-in-bombshell-interview-with-mike-adams/ I think in light of this the Jets will run into problems as it appears the vaccinated are actually no better off then the unvaccinated. I think the next month will be interesting as developments could determine if we even have a season of hockey.

I believe the data you are referring to is that in Israel they are finding that people vaccinated early (they were the 1st country to have a comprehensive vaccine program) are now as likely to catch and transmit as unvaccinated. The data however still overwhelmingly points to vaccination preventing serious effects of the virus such as hospitalization and death. As for masks, as T stated, they are more to prevent spread of disease than of catching it. As for variants, this is the natural order of things as virus spontaneously mutate regardless. (This is the same reason “we” have to get flu shots every year because the vaccines becomes less potent as the strains start to vary and try new ways to attack our immune system). At some point society will have to accept its here to stay and just as “flu shots” are optional, I think COVID shots will be as well and life will go on (for some of us😉). The burden to society is the cost of freedom of expression, just as smokers continue to burden healthcare (but at least they have the excuse of addiction). In relation to the nhl, it will follow the accepted view of the majority and make plans accordingly. IMO.

It's all about freedom.
People can choose to get, or not get, the vaccine.
Private businesses can choose to limit, or not limit, access to their businesses.
It's called the 'right to refuse service' and it's wide ranging and at the businesses discretion.
Pretty simple, really. It has become political since people need things to yell about, but it really comes down to freedom.
There is already some wild Mangiapane in this thread. Should be fun.

It will be a great case study to see how many businesses or sports teams like the Jets have push back by alienating their customer base...mask requirements are one thing but to try to regulate a vaccine on their customer base could infact open them up to liabilities as they would not be exempt like the pharma companies have been for the covid shots. This should be a red flag right there.

The Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine as well as the Moderna vaccine rely on messenger RNA, or mRNA. Each vaccine works by using mRNA to carry a genetic code that works as an instruction card to tell the body to make the “spike protein” that is in the coronavirus. Once the protein is made in the body, the cells get rid of the instructions and the immune system builds an immune response to it. The vaccines do not use the live virus.
