With the Juniors tournament here we are all going to get a good look at how Broberg is coming along. There is an article on the Oilers' site about Broberg and I really enjoyed reading it. It seems he is driven to improve himself in every category, even the ones he is already good at. His world junior coach raves about how much he has improved over last season and how driven he is to keep improving his game. Broberg mentions improving his game so that it will help the Edmonton Oilers and he has his sites set on making the team next year.
The chances of him making the team out of camp without going down to Bakersfield first are slim to me but I love his attitude about improving every facet of his game. Bouchard and other Bakersfield D will be staking their claims to Oiler roster spots so Broberg has a tall order to accomplish if he wants to earn a spot. I do love his commitment to improving himself, though.

Great to hear about Bro's attitude. Can't wait to get a peek at him in this tournament. Also, on Team Canada, Oiler prospects Raphael Lavoie and goalie Olivier Rodrigue have made the final roster. Also, on Czech Repulic, we have Matej Blumel.
Sound be some great hockey!

I didn't notice him much, but I was watching Canada vs US mostly. - Rodrigue has slipped to third string though, so I'm not sure we'll see much of him. - Lavoie is 4th line RW, so his minutes will be limited. BUT from what I saw today, he's a beast. - Broberg is 3rd pairing, but he played very well.

He wasn't playing yesterday. Guess I read the names wrong when I was looking at the page for the game yesterday.

Can't get it, but it's a Twitter clip of Bro throwing a nice open ice hit at the blue line. Knocks the stuffing out of the guy

Foggy isn't gonna like this, even though it was the Oilers decision both times lol. no, I don't I still don't understand why though. Holland has dealt with MANY European players, and they've all taken the same route. He'd rather them play against men than children in the CHL. Then when he's of age, he comes to NA to play against men in the AHL. It's a smart move. There aren't many top 10 picked Scandinavian players that go play in the CHL after being drafted. Usually they're either good enough for the NHL, or they go back home to play for a year or two. The one guy in recent years that took the route you like is Julius Honka. He hasn't made it to the NHL, and is now back in Finland.

Is there any talk about Broberg being at camp? Was he doing so well that scouts actually thought he's ready to contribute to the team's defense? If anyone has any info I'd love to hear it.

Oilers News and Rumors @oilersaccess · Jul 11 Ken Holland says that there are no immediate plans to replace Mike Green on the roster ahead of training camp. Philip Broberg will also head back to Sweden after training camp to attend Skelleftea's training camp ahead of the SHL season. #LetsGoOilers

Personally i'd prefer to see him stay with the club for the run for the covid cup. He's got great mentors here in Larrson and klefbom and he'd learn more here than in TC in Sweden and besides Sweden has way more covid than here so dont see that being an issue to staying here?
