LOL I was going to post if anyone would be brave enough to post a "Welcome to the org Stan" thread, but you kind of just did . Nice one HH. Let's hope this season we keep moving forward, we literally only have one more step to go!! Haha nah not that bold. I'm not sure I welcome him anyway. This could be a major blunder on JJ's resume. Again, I'm not sure where I stand with this one. I know I don't support the decision, there were other serviceable options. Regardless, due to the acts that occurred, it's hard for me to support the org in this decision let alone support Stan. Ok I guess I do know where I stand, I just had to say it lol. He's here now though, like it or not. It's hard to find anything good to say about this hire, but he's here so we've just got to make the best out of it and hope he's actually the best candidate out there. Iffy at best, but I'm trying to stay positive. The only thing that makes sense to me is that Jackson (when he was an agent) probably had some clients that played for Chicago before Bowman resigned . I'm thinking that when they negotiated contracts Bowman somehow impressed Jackson and also he may have heard good things from other agents. Like I said in an earlier post, if he can sign Draisaitl to a team friendly contract of 5 years or better, that would brighten my outlook considerably. It won't matter who did the heavy lifting on this as long as it gets done.

Anyone know the details of Bowman contract? Years, $$. I've been searching but no details yet. I'm hoping it's very team friendly and to a max of 3yrs (I really dont think you can hire a GM for less than 3yrs realistically). Maybe he's donating some of his salary to SASE and try to win over the goodwill of the fans??

I seen that yesterday too. First move under Bowman as GM, not sure if it was his decision but couldn't help but roll my eyes haha. Anyway, hopefully knows his stuff.

I actually think it was made just prior to SB and yeah my sense of humour has no filter, so if anyone gets offended too bad, i make fun of everyone and everything inc myself, which is to say living very dangerously in this day and age

Especially when someone is trying to pull a fast one and are basically out of line. My wife knows I have no patience for bullshit and when she sees the potential for sparks she steers me away and tries to act like she's not doing that at all. When she tells me about run ins with idiots she's had I usually say "good thing I wasn't there" and she'll say something like "yeah, that's what I was thinking" or "don't worry, I know". The real bad ones she says "I wish you were there".

Holy Kuzmenko! x.com/frank_seravalli/status/1823353093498487102
Looks like all we get is a 2nd and a 3rd for compensation. Way to go SB for not getting them done sooner, you Kuzmenkoing idiot! This puts us in a serious bind. Even if Kane is LTIR. Both of them get 2 yr contracts so this would affect Drai and Bouch contracts as well. Piss me off. Stupid GM! Blues try to take not one but two of our young players. Cupboards are bare enough as is.

Can now confirm, its on TSN and the STL have formerly announced it!! It's within the rules so I dont blame STL, I've said in the past more teams should use "all of the tools" available inc "parking Kane on LTIR till playoffs". I honestly dont think oilers can afford to lose either player, just wondering if they can get a little creative and offer something for 3yrs at a lower cap hit that = or is slightly above the sum STL are giving them in total? It will still mean that we're gonna have to trade players out, but everyone else in the league knows that and so the value of all our "non-essential players" just went down by default! SB and JJ have 7 days to figure it out. Not the news we were expecting or hoping for in August but this is gonna make things interesting and will test SB's skills to the max. I believe the actual date to be cap compliant is closer to opening game so the oilers can sign them now and still have about 6 weeks to sort out the trades etc that will get them under the cap. Ballsy move by STL, oilers caught napping, but we are already one of the oldest clubs so cant afford to lose any young up and comers in the line up. If I was forced to let one go, it would be holloway IMO, but that cap hit on Broberg now is huge to where it shouldve been if we had tied them up sooner!! Someone in the org should get shiit for this. not sure if it should be JJ or SB or whoever was supposed to be handling things till SB was hired? Get the popcorn out! drai is no longer the top priority for time being!! www.tsn.ca/nhl/st-louis-blues-tender-offer-sheets-to-edmonton-oilers-rfas-philip-broberg-dylan-holloway-1.2161634

They'll lose Broberg but they'll match Holloway. Yup. Matching Holloway's offer is a no brainer. Broberg is an overpay, take the compensation

If anyone, let the Calgary boy go. agree, hollywood is a lot easier to replace albeit a lot easier to match. there's a reason why STL structured their offers the way they did, they know who the most valuable prospect is and if Broberg continues where he left off in the playoffs, even that 4.58M is going to look like a bargain. I'd personally try everything to try and match broberg as he was basically pencilled in as top 4 d-man whereas hollywood was going to have a hard time getting out of the 4th line, especially with the 2 new forwards added to the line up? it's just easier to replace a 4th line energy player than a top 4 dman, although in my perfect world SB dumps ceci or Kulak and LTIRs Kane for the season and we end up keeping both? I guess you know you've arrived when everyone's out to git ya!!

This definatley puts us in a bad spot cap wise. It seems like Broberg was ready to step up this year. Seems other teams thought that too. Good D take longer to develop and are hard to come by and we've been patient with him. My bet is to keep Broberg but hate to lose either.
