Right on 420, good call to keep this thread going (or rather re-start it I should say). Always fun exploring new waters! Tight Lines!!

Which one of the duck hunter cast are you? hahaha! Very nice fish. I've fished Keho lots, and there are some real hogs in that reservoir! If you kept any, they are actually pretty good tasting out of that lake.

I'm the taller one with long hair. Hey 420, do you know the 5-fillet boneless method for cleaning pike? Nice hammer handles btw!

Yup! That's how I filleted them. Then I made homemade beer batter and deep fried them. YUM.

No secret. Just flour, baking powder, salt, pepper and about a can of ice cold beer. Drench the fillets in flour before dipping them in the batter. Cook on the stovetop at about 5 for 3 minutes per side.

Our very first trip to Kehoe Lake. Looks like you had a great day of fishing. I fish Kehoe once in a while as well as it is close to home. I don’t have a boat though so do prefer to fish the streams and mostly trout. I’ve been fishing the old man on occasion just outside of Fort Macleod and have caught some really nice sized Rainbows and brown trout. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to fish at all this spring and summer but am just about able to get out soon. Probably next week. Gonna head to Payne lake and sit by the water for the day as walking is a bit of a challenge presently.

Sharpe....you may need to take an ice auger with you given your weather down there! Lol no kidding. Quite the snow storm we had. It’s supposed to be 17 above on Monday and Tuesday so I will probably go one of those days depending on the 💨 wind.

The New Year has started off right for me.
Yesterday, I was gifted a new rod and reel to replace the one that went for a "long swim and never came back" on our last trip of 2019.
Today, my fishing partner has confirmed that we will be going salmon fishing for an entire week during August at Pedder Bay and Sooke, British Columbia. I've never been salmon fishing, so this will be another "bucket list" item for me. With some luck, maybe I'll even land a Tyee (the chief) which is a Chinook Salmon weighing 30 pounds or more.

Lost my Lightning Rod years ago in about 25 feet of water. Dove for it for hours using the anchor to take the 'express elevator' down to the bottom and have a few extra seconds to search but no luck. Ready to give up, had one extra bottle of barley courage and sure enough, happened to spot the bright orange piping along the shaft next to the eyes. Still my #1 rod to this day. Hope you meet 'Tyee'!

My loss was a Lightning rod too, I got 10 years of use from it, but it went down the Bow River. My new one is a 6' 6" Shakespeare Lightning Rod Elite. You had more balls (or liquid courage) than me, LOL

You had more balls (or liquid courage) than me, LOL I thought Berkley was the only one to make the Lightning Rod. And from what I've seen, the new ones don't have the cork handle just that felt stuff, which takes away from sensitivity imo.

My bad. I meant to say Ugly Stik not Lightning Rod. The Elite model has a cork handle, the cheaper GX2 has the foam.

Anybody out catching our finned friends lately? I've been working a lot lately myself but I was able to get the boy (he turned 7 in April) out several times over the past few weeks anyhow, where there's a will there's a way. All South Saskatchewan river fishing for him, a couple other lakes as well as the SSR for me and the little booger is beating me in a few departments, awesome. We've both caught mostly the same species so far on the season, them being Sturgeon, Walleye (his bigger), Goldeye, Mooneye (his bigger), Pike (his bigger), 1 species of sucker (name escapes me atm) surprised we haven't caught more suckers. I've caught perch, he has not. He caught the invasive Prussian Carp (I've yet to catch one ever) on his first cast the other day, a species I have never seen physically till junior caught this little football. We are supposed to kill these Carp and not release, unfortunately the bugger slipped from my paws and back into the water.. then gone, ugh. It happens lol. Awesome to get out fishing with the boy and loving watching his cast improve every outing. He's getting more used to holding the fish too but is still a bit of a weenie when it comes to that haha. I told him pretty soon he's gonna be putting his own minnows and worms on the hook. The look he gave me was priceless. Stepping stones I guess, haha. Tight lines fellas.

Day off today and the fish were hungry! Personal best for sturgeon as far as numbers go, not size however. No big girls but 20 sturg and 2 suckas in just over 4 hrs of fishing. Non-stop woohoo!! Between buddy and I almost 40 sturgeon landed. Right time, right place I guess. Super Fun!! I LOVE FISHING!!
