In other news similar to Stalock, Archie will be out indefinitely. Not good news, not good at all! Why is it not good news?

Mark Spector @sportsnetspec BREAKING: Edmonton Oilers winger Josh Archibald done for the foreseeable future after tests show a summertime bout with Covid 19 had led to heart condition myocarditis. Destined for LTIR, buying Oilers $1.5 M in cap space.

There's no wrong answer, each player brings different things. If Kass doesn't bring it I would also prefer Archie over the other two on 3 RW.
He will be missed. There's not much sandpaper on our team to boot.

Archie will be missed as he is a little wrecking ball out there. I do however feel that a few of the other guys could fill in no problem. You are right we do not have much sandpaper and those types of players are my favourite to have on the team. I sure hope we get the crazy eye version of Kass the whole season and not just once every 10 or 15 games.

5 more players sent down: Marody, Griffith, Kono, Broberg and Berglund
Marody and Griffith can be claimed so will have to watch to see.

I'm not too familiar with how the finer details of the cap work or LTIR, but with Archie on LTIR, that means we could probably save one of the bubble guys like Benson going down and getting claimed and have room for another min wage player, someone with the requisite grit or more that archie possesses? Personally i think Shore brings more grit, but maybe less skill than Archie does so we could keep him and Perlini seems to have more skill? This could be an addition by subtraction scenario IMO if we get to keep 2 guys for the price of one?

I would rather have Turris or Sceviour for the safety of all of the other Oiler players. As it stood before Josh Archibald's diagnosis, he wasn't going to play in any case, we are no worse off now than before the announcement that Josh Archibald was out indefinitely. Sorry to hear of Archibald's situation, same as Stalock's situation, but we now move on with a fully vaccinated team which is a good thing.

God forbid we just stick to talking about hockey for more than 5 minutes...

I think Archie is going to be more difficult to replace then most. I love his game! He is very physical, he may be smaller but he plays very big. Also he is in my opinion one of the best pkers in the league.

Perlini is big enough and he gets around the ice pretty well, but I haven't seen any physical play. Does anyone know if that's part of his game? It's fine if it isn't, I'm just curious if anyone has a scouting report.
I think we'll get Archie's $$ as cap relief so a bit of room to add some grit if we need it.

The knock on Perlini is his consistency. Think of him as Pulj was a couple years ago (lack of effort and drive). His defensive game is also not the best.
Like Pulj, he seems to have matured for one, worked on his two way game while overseas last year. Every interview I have seen Perlini talks about how he appreciates a second chance in the NHL. His first time around, being a high pick looks like he took some things for granted.

I'm pretty sure it was brought up in one of the articles I read when we first signed him. You are correct, the book on him was he was not very physical. I believe in one of his first interviews he said he was trying to work on being more physical. If he can produce points from the bottom six it will be an improvement over the last few years, which to me is what is important.

Up front, to me JP has looked great and Perlini has been the most welcomed pleasant surprise... digging his shooter mentality. I think this whole 5th forward line is on the outs looking in at this point, 4th line above seems solid. Benson has not been very sharp, McLeod ok, Sceviour probably looks the best of the three right now. Still unsure what to think of our defense, our goaltenders have been convincingly good to my eye. 3 more preseason tilts then it's game onnnnnnnnn and points count!! LIking what I'm seeing overall so far in camp though. GOG!!

God forbid we just stick to talking about hockey for more than 5 minutes... My reference was about hockey.......we now have a team who is fully vaccinated which makes Tippet's job a bit easier as he now knows he cannot rely on Archibald for a place in the team. Why is that a personal or political opinion? It is a fact, hence good news for Tippet (and Holland) to know exactly where we stand regarding the make up of our squad of players. Archibald now is not the best player for that spot in the team as he is now unavailable. So, we move on.

looks pretty much like what the full starting lineup for game 1 will be, especially if smith needs to take care of a few things. Will be interesting to see what Flames throw up against it and how they handle this line up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
