2.1 million cap hit, I say why not? I think it'll add some vinegar to the Oiler's lineup.

Looks sexier and that's my opinion. Stayout of trouble Kane and be about the team then everything will fall into place

I am looking forward to seeing how this works out. I am hoping to see some sandpaper in the lineup and plays like a pest.

I'll welcome Kane because he is an Oiler now. Fan of the player, not a fan on the person. Hopefully he is done with his antics and keeps any BS far far away from our locker room. Stoked to see what he can bring to our top 6. Our colorful team just got a whole lot more character, for better or for worse. Welcome to the Oilers Evander!!

Bad boy or not there's no denying Mr.Kane is an exceptional hockey player. Not much risk as some would think. If he has more issues you just cut him loose in the off season and the next step in his career would be to play in Europe.
Side note, many fans of other teams are going to HATE the Oilers for giving Kane another chance. Let them. As long as this signing helps us win I'm not worried about it.

So what do you guys think? I don't think he can be sent down if he under performs due to his NMC. To me it's simple, to continue to have an NHL career he will have to focus on hockey. He's 30, he has custody of his young child. So yeah it should ground him more and it's time to grow up. Hope he becomes a better team player, there is no I in team
Again it always gets mentioned how Edmonton is not a desirable (and canada for that matter) location yet we landed another good player. Top teams were interested. So why did Kane choose Edmonton? Sure you have McD and Drai as reasons, could it be because he will get top minutes here vs uncertainty (3rd line minutes) on another team? He's going to be under the microscope here whereas elsewhere he would have more of a private life. In a city where a player can blend in when in public vs here sticking out in public. I understand why he would choose Edmonton and do not understand at the same time.
The presser with KH and EV starts anytime now, 9AM MT. Maybe we will get some answers.

I believe KH had a lot to do with him coming to Edmonton. Sure he could have signed in a southern city where people don't know him and he could hide. This is a good move by the Oil with a caveat attached. He has to behave and just play hockey. On the hockey side of the ledger we just got not only a whole lot better but now we're a little bigger and tougher. Players will think twice now about abusing McD and Drai with Kane out there. OH and by the way TkaChicken just crapped himself (lol)

Well I think the biggest reason why he signed here, well two - McDavid and Draisaitl. If he can find chemistry with one or both of them, he will most definitely be the hottest UFA in the market this coming off season. Though he's seeing a therapist for his 'gambling', this is another 'gamble' he is taking. As we hear more and more about him - I say give him a chance. Yes, he is flawed, and yes he will make more mistakes in his personal life just like everyone does on the ice. I'm just hoping those mistakes are not repeated, specifically within the dressing room. If he causes a divide in there then we are in even bigger trouble then we our now. However, if he fits well with either McD, Drai, or both - this really changes the dynamic of the team. If we can stay healthy the rest of the way (relatively speaking) and into the playoffs we can be a really dangerous team. Nice to see he'll actually be in the lineup tomorrow - talk about jumping right in.

He may have a home in Vancouver which a bit like Duncan Keith helped the decision to come to Edmonton, plus of course we have the Tyson Barrie factor, ie can't be bad for future contract negotiations to put up a lot of points playing with you know who. I have just watched most of the interview with Kane/Tippet/Holland.........and I would just like to say it would be nice if the know alls (to use a phrase used by Drai recently) asking the questions would focus on the hockey side, not all of the other stuff. Whether one likes Evander Kane or not, he is here to help his own career going forwards, and the best way he can do that is to help the Oilers also. Lets give the guy a chance, focus on what happens on the ice, and stop these Spanish Inquisition type interviews that people who likely can't even skate appear to enjoy paticipating in.

Saw the presser as well. Hope the media is done digging up the past. Kane did the TSN interview (saw part 1, part 2 not out yet), that should be enough. Let him focus on the present and play hockey.
His decision to come here, he mentioned "the fit". Top 6 with two of the league's best players. Now with Kane what do our lines look like once he gets going?
Nuge may get a chance at 3C? He is not that good on the dot though. Nuge is no top center anymore but 3C is a possibility. We add to our top 6, moving Nuge down to 3C you also improve your bottom 6. In a month or two if Hollaway is ready then you improve your bottom 6 even further.
Kane/McD/Yammo Hyman/Drai/Pulj Foe/Nuge/Kass Perlini/Benson/McLeod/Sceviour
Marody is playing well too. If one of Marody or Hollaway can come in to fill the wing on the 4th line. Hollaway can play C as well. Need someone that can generate more on the 4th line, there is very few points from whichever combo of players have been in the bottom of the lineup.

I'm guessing there wasn't 10 teams interested, as the only place I heard that was from his agent. Also, he's broke. Our $2.1m offer would have been the top dollars available.

He's not even making $2.1 million, that's his cap hit. He's getting $1.37. I don't believe for a second other teams were seriously looking at him. It went from 16 teams to 10 teams to 2 teams, who changed every week, to us like a rock sinking in a pond. No serious contender was taking a chance on this guy ruining their dressing room.

Did you listen to his interview? After tax here compared to either Tampa or Florida (very low taxes) are you sure he took the top dollars available? Or did he choose here to play for his future and next contract? Like Barrie did. Playing a lesser role in Florida is not the best way to showcase yourself. Off the ice there's more distractions/trouble to get into in big US cities compared to Edmonton as well. Less temptation, to focus on hockey. Top 6 with McD or Drai then who knows, he could be a 7-8 million dollar player again. Maybe there was less interest than thought but he did say several teams were in the presser. His net pay is 974k to play the rest of the year. Nothing earth shattering. Igibb just posted it's 1.375 million and it says that at cap friendly. Puck pedia has it at 974k total. Not sure which one is right.

The difference in his take home pay between here and Florida based on this is $100,000 less so he wasn't exactly deciding between saving his financial situation or not.

I'm excited I always wanted Kane the hockey player on the Oilers. One thing is he should have a lot of energy having not played but also not coming off injury. He also played 5 ahl games not that to long ago so he shouldnt be that rusty either.
Hopefully he chose Edmonton cause it's close to his parents, maybe they are helping with his kid. And while he has a nmc that doesnt mean he wouldnt agree to a deadline move he just want to control where he goes. Im excited to see him play tomorrow.

Games playes might have been some of the reason he picked here too. We have 5 more games then Florida left. More chance for him to get more points and 5 more game cheques cause I assume thats how his pay works he gets 43/82 of his salary. And all of the signing bonus. In Florida he would have got 37/82. Im hoping playing San Jose was 1 reason lol.

I believe he gets roughly half of that 750k base salary (he is playing basically half a season, we have around 93 days left out of a 200 day season) 625k+349k= 974k. May be wrong, a bit confusing. Either way it's 974k or 1.3 mil.
