I don't remember Boston complaining, it was literally a compensation rule. Cause we also gave a pick to San Jose too, for McLellan. I remember bruins complaining bitterly because there was a lot of ambiguity as to whether he was still a bruins employee since they fired him but the ruling was he was still technically under contract and being paid by bruins although his salary immediately stopped as soon as oilers hired him? It was a dumb rule and they quickly changed it because it meant if a GM signs a 3yr contract and gets fired after 1 season then technically he wouldnt be allowed to GM anyone else until his contract expired? Bruins saw an opp and took it and surprise surprise the NHL sided with them and then promptly changed the compensation rule! I'm not sure about the compensation for coaches and whether that's still in play but its basically the same rule but for coaches and it's equally dumb so I'd be surprised if its still a rule now or whether the NHL ditched it? The flames thing was even dumber because I believe in that trade there was a clause that they wouldnt have to compensate if Looch scored 10 goals and I think he was on 8 when they shut the season down? So the league arbitrarily determined that Neal was going to hit his target but Looch wouldn't and I believe before the league actually did shut down, Neal was either injured or demoted so oilers could've made the argument both ways if they had tried? Instead they just accept being poosy whipped every time. It's been a thing ever since Sather left as GM IMO. It was a compensation rule for personnel edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/edmonton-oilers-will-pay-draft-pick-compensation-for-gm-chiarelli-coach-mclellan#:~:text=On%20Wednesday%20came%20confirmation%20that,its%20right%20to%20that%20pick. The NHL doesn't care if you complain, the make things up as they go. There's nothing the Oilers could have done.

The NHL doesn't care if you complain, the make things up as they go. There's nothing the Oilers could have done. I think that's kinda my point, The NHL does kind of make things up as they go, just like they'll interpret on ice rules as they please to suit a narrative and to get the result they want? It's only by continually biatching and complaining that you make them think 2x about messing with you? Again, I'm not saying it would have changed anything, but doing nothing never changes anything! and TBH, as long as Bettmasn is the league's lapdog, No CDN team is going to get the breaks that some of the US teams always seem to get? I'm not that delusional LOL!

Looks like Roby is expected back next week. Be nice if he could fill in the #2 LW position after a few AHL games. Bigger body

Nice to see some youth up, still not happy with going with the vets lineup and these stupid contracts. Doughty is out, Kings are doing fine. Barkov was out, Panthers are doing fine. With us it's all in or nothing. Again time for Drai to show his mettle. If not, not going to coddle him around. Cheers.

Hope Philp is the one that gets the chance. We have seen drake I hope they put him in top 6 as well and not 6mins a nt on 4th line while giving Perry or Janmark 20 mins on top lines! but you know these oilers?? better yet MRI shows up nothing and McD misses only 2 games!!!

Don't think Philp is a top 6. I would just move Henrique up to 1st line and have Philip go 3rd center. As for Ryan (Windsor), the guy has been playing pretty good, his lower end games match the teams crap games. Hyman, Skinner,Janmark, Nuge & Arvidsson need to throw that monkey off their backs and help the offense going. Defensively, we should be better without McDs drive by back checking.

I agree, I havent seen too much of the games this year, mostly highlights but from that and what ive read, Ryan aint the problem, its once again the lack of support from the guys you mentioned thats the problem! As for Philp, I think it actually might be an easier position to put him in as top 6 wing as opposed to 3rd line centre? It's probably moot anyway as I'd put money on Caggiula or Hamblin being brought up first and given a bottom 6 role and someone like henrique or Janmark bumped up. As you say, At least Henrique used to be a genuine top 6 player and may have a few good games in him at that spot still

Lineups: x.com/Bob_Stauffer/status/1851684149222113533McD out 2-3 weeks which is a good case scenario if this news is accurate. With recalling Philp and Cags we are no longer accruing cap space and are in LTIR. Just like that, with one injury. At least we have an extra forward now so Ryan/Perry can sit from time to time.

I've no idea how the accruel of cap works but I'm assuming that once McD is back and these 2 get sent down, it starts accruing again, as in 2-3 weeks time?? so we'll have 1-200k less at TDL to spend? who knows maybe 1 or both make real names for themselves and they can drop a vet with a bit more cap and recapture that lost few hundred k? if that's how it works?

Oilers have acquired D Ronnie Attard in exchange for Ben Gleason. Have not researched any further.

TBH, i'd rather he didn't as Wifi is pretty scary and can often rile up his teamates to play better. however, if he's asked to dance then i hope he 2-steps him to next week!
