In case anyone was wondering, in the WHL Reid Schaefer is tied with 3 others including Bedard for goals scored at 13. Difference is Reid has played 11 games while the others have played 15/14. Outstanding! whl.ca/stats/players/279/1/goalsok that's amazing... keep it up!

its all the sweeter that this 6th round pick was the one KH offered up to Dumbas to sign and trade Hyman and Dumbas basically told him to GFY

I went to the Wranglers/Condors game last night. A spicy affair, but really good hockey. I was impressed. Kesserling impressed me. Big, smooth operator.
For a cheap ticket, it was a lot better than I was expecting.
Didn't hurt that it was a Friday night-Star Wars night so there was a good crowd. We helped some kids in the next section get the wave going. They were pumped.

Does Bakersfield play in Calgary again this year or do I have to wait til next year to go down?

A playoff series of that would be sweet, so I'm hoping.

Zero Oiler prospects playing at World juniors. Avalanche also have zero.

Zero Oiler prospects playing at World juniors. Avalanche also have zero. Oiler prospect pool is very shallow. It's interesting that you mentioned the Avs? They also have few prospects now, but they won their cup and are now suffering a little because of picks used for trades and the contracts they had to hand out to the 2 Macks and others! However, I believe those contracts will be real value contracts when the cap starts to rise normally as it did pre-covid and those 9 and $12.5M contracts will age well and the Avs will have some cap space to play with in a year or 2 and a core still largely intact! If the oilers win a cup this year or next, then everything will have been worth it IMO, but I think the oiler scenario may play out differently and our window wont be open for much longer, unless new management can somehow change the path we've gone down the last 8-10 years?

If you think about the cap freeze, it has totally screwed up the Oilers. McDrai's contracts should be a bargain right now. Fans can complain all they want regarding cap management but we got screwed.

I don't disagree, the covid cap freeze totally affected the way in which KH could do business and it could be argued may have cost us a cup? The only problem with that logic is that we have no idea what Kh would have done with extra cap and we have no idea what other teams could have done with the extra cap also? Since the cap freeze affected everyone, I dont think it can be used as an excuse, but I wouldn't want to argue against the fact it probably impacted the oilers more than most teams? We are/were poised to make some serious runs at the cup, but because of timing, contract structures and the way we were constructed etc., teams who were "all in" and tight to the cap in order to make runs when covid hit, probably got screwed the most. It does kinda suck to think "what if", but despite covid, 3 different teams won a cup between 2020 and 2023, so some figured it out? I must admit, the first "covid cup" still pisses me off that they arbitrarily gave Stars auto entry and made us play-in and then also arbitrarily gave a 3rd rnd pick to flames. It fuels my conspiracy theories of the NHL out to get us, but whatever LOL!!
