Flamers thread is shut down bc some of us can't play nice so I'll post this here. theahl.com/flames-to-move-ahl-affiliate-to-calgaryLooks like most Canadian teams will now have their farm teams playing in Canada except us. If we could move the Condors to Canada (Edm) this could be huge. Essentially they could create an All-Canadian division. We'll see... GO CONDORS GO!!

Thats good. Bringing in an AHL would likely hurt the Oil Kings. Let's see what happens to the Hitmen

Thats good. Bringing in an AHL would likely hurt the Oil Kings. Let's see what happens to the Hitmen Yeah we'll see. I just found it odd ALL other NHL Canadian teams now have their farm team up north except us. But, I get it. The players like it in the Bake, the fanbase and support is great down there, it's really not far away, and everyone seems content to stay there. It's so nice, usually this time of year I'm focused on the draft and who we should be going after. This year, I couldn't tell you one kid's name in the draft... and I am SO OK with that!

Yep. Glad it's back too. Give the young guys something to look forward to when they know most of them are going elsewhere after rookie camp. I've meant to go a few times. Always thought it would fun to support the kids and yell at some mid-summer hockey. Maybe this is the year.

I know everyone is probably wrapped up in the FAF, but i saw this interview of Matvey Petrov on twitter and was just blown away by how amazing his command of english is after just 1 season and how smart and intelligently he answered all the questions. If IQ equates to hockey IQ, the oilers have 1 smart player on their hands! and to think we almost gave this pick away to leafs to sign Hyman an extra year! just goes to show, no such thing as a worthless pick. not saying he'll make the NHL but i personally wouldn't bet against him!!

We play the Jet's rookies on the 16th, hoping they stream these games online.

I loved how he didn't answer the one question that he didn't want to. Most kids that age would mumble some cliches, or say something stupid, and he looked buddy right in the face and said "I don't want to talk about that." That's poise for a young man in that position.

I don't know exactly why, other than the kid is huge and plays physical, but I really see good things in Schaefer's future with the Oilers. There's something about him that makes me want to see him make the team as early as next season 2023-24, if he can make the impact I think he can and will. A big body like that will surely be able to find a spot somewhere in the lineup if he puts the work in.

I watched pieces of all three rookie games and let me just say the kids are alright! Imo Holloway is absolutely NHL ready and I look forward to seeing him compete in camp, I fully expect him in our line-up to start the season. Broberg too will be in our starting line-up. Rodrigue looked really good in net from what I saw of him. Hamblin had an awesome tourney, I dunno much about him? Overall, I thought our rookies were a step above the rest of the teams and it showed in the final results. Fun tourney. On with the show, main camp starts tomorrow, I think. edit) forgot to mention, we have a few guys injured... added to Lavoie are Desharnais, Tullio, Savoie (as per lowetide).

Wanner looked good, especially in the rookie tourney! Just read that Petrov went back to Battalion and produced a nice 1-2-3 in a 4-1 Win. It has to be tough for a young guy to go from playing up with the big boys to going back to junior, but he obviously took the right attitude back with him. Hope he really lights up the O this year, got a sneaky feeling this guy is going to be good!!

I'm very happy to hear he's off to a good start, but I'm not that surprised. I think it's his size, but there is something I really like about this prospect. He's already huge and he's still in junior, I've got a feeling he'll make a huge impact to the Oilers lineup once he makes the team. He seems like a very likeable guy and I see him as a player who will bring size, toughness and skill to the oilers with just enough nasty for the perfect mix. I hope he's an Oiler for a very long time.

In case anyone was wondering, in the WHL Reid Schaefer is tied with 3 others including Bedard for goals scored at 13. Difference is Reid has played 11 games while the others have played 15/14. Outstanding! whl.ca/stats/players/279/1/goals
